Bosch: Legacy: Titus Welliver Gives Big Update on Season 3 Release, Confirms Appearance in Spin-Off

Bosch: Legacy: Titus Welliver Gives Big Update on Season 3 Release, Confirms Appearance in Spin-Off

As a dedicated fan of Bosch series, I’ve been through the highs and lows with Harry Bosch for years now, and let me tell you, the anticipation for the next season has been like a rollercoaster ride without the fun part – the actual ride! But hearing Titus Welliver‘s latest comments about the potential release date in early 2025 has got my heart racing faster than ever. I mean, who wouldn’t be excited to see Bosch back on our screens? And the spinoff featuring Maggie Q’s character, Renee Ballard, sounds like a cherry on top of an already delicious sundae!

Approximately a year has passed since “Bosch: Legacy” season 2 debuted on Amazon Freevee, and fans have been anxiously counting down the days for more episodes of this Titus Welliver-led police procedural. However, it appears that they might not have to wait much longer. In an interview with ComicBook to promote his new project, “Watchmen: Chapter 1”, Welliver hinted that although no specific release date has been announced yet, he expects the series to return sometime in early 2025. This is partly due to its role in setting up the highly anticipated spinoff focusing on Maggie Q’s character, Renee Ballard.

“As of now, we haven’t set a date, but I’m guessing it will be sometime in 2025, ideally early in the year. We’re currently filming the spinoff ‘Ballard’ starring Maggie Q, and her character was introduced in our tenth episode of ‘Bosch: Legacy’, which is part of season three that hasn’t been released yet. Considering they’d likely want to release them around the same time, I suspect we might hear about a release date soon. I’m currently filming for the first episode and have contracted for three episodes in this first season of ‘Ballard’. So, I hope we get some information on the release date, but I can only speculate that it will be around then. Our producers always push themselves to exceed their previous work, so I’m eager for this third season to come out as I believe it’s one of the best we’ve ever produced, and that includes ‘Bosch’, which I’ve been a part of for ten years.”

What is Bosch: Legacy About?

Bosch: Legacy is the sequel to Amazon Prime Video’s Bosch, which aired from 2014 to 2021 over seven seasons. The show is inspired by author Michael Connelly’s novels and centers around Harry Bosch, a former LAPD detective who now works as a private investigator. The cast includes Mimi Rogers, Madison Lintz, Stephen Chang, Denise G. Sanchez, Anthony Gonzales, Danielle Larracuente, David Moses, among others. This new series premiered on May 6, 2022, on Amazon Freevee and has already been renewed for a third season before its second season even aired.

Bosch: Legacy is Getting a Renee Ballard Spinoff

The spinoff series titled “Bosch: Legacy” is also introducing a new focus, revolving around Detective Renee Ballard, portrayed by Maggie Q. This series derives its inspiration from the works of author Michael Connelly, delving into the story of Detective Renee Ballad, who takes charge of the LAPD’s newly established cold-case unit. The description suggests that this unit is underfunded and operated by volunteers, carrying the heaviest caseload in the city. Detective Ballard handles these time-frozen cases with compassion and perseverance. As she delves deeper into her investigations, she uncovers a larger conspiracy. To navigate the perils that jeopardize both her unit and her life, she seeks assistance from her retired ally, Harry Bosch.

Under their respective banners, Connelly (Hieronymus Pictures) and Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, and Trish Hoffman are set to produce executive roles for the upcoming series. Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate will also serve as executive producers for Fabel Entertainment. Jasmine Russ is assigned as co-executive producer for Fabel Entertainment, while Theresa Snider takes on this role for Hieronymous Pictures. Additionally, Jamie Boscardin Martin and Trey Batchelor are co-executive producers. Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood will be the showrunners for this series, which is slated to premiere exclusively on Prime Video.
