As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the latest weapon trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds has piqued my interest yet again. The Switchaxe, or Swaxe as some call it, has always been a fan favorite due to its versatility and style.
The most recent weapon showcase for Monster Hunter Rise features the Switchaxe, also known to some as the “Swaxe. You can watch it in action, along with an attractive new armor set, right here!
The Switchaxe has two functioning modes: Axe and Sword. The Axe mode provides extended reach, whereas the Sword’s strikes are quicker. By executing Sword attacks, you can fill up a phial gauge; when full, the damage of your attacks increases based on their elemental type. Additionally, you can perform a potent move called Zero Sum Discharge.
In the game “Wilds“, Focus Mode appears to enable a combination leading to a standard Elemental Discharge. Additionally, players can defend and counterattack with a powerful strike. As for further modifications to the weapon, only time will tell; however, it continues to maintain its sleek and stylish appearance.
2025 sees the release of Monster Hunter Wilds on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Among the three weapon types that continue to be featured are the Lance, Bow, and Dual Blades. Keep an eye out for gameplay demos of these weapons as we approach Gamescom Opening Night Live, where Capcom is expected to unveil a fresh trailer.
