Marvel Announces Hellverine Ongoing Series

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Marvel Universe immersion under my belt, I must say that the announcement of the ongoing series “Hellverine” has me absolutely thrilled! The character first appeared during the Ghost Rider/Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance crossover last year, and his visually striking blend of Wolverine’s physique and Ghost Rider’s hellfire lighting was a sight to behold.

In the Marvel Universe, Hellverine is set to leave a path of wrath as he forges ahead in a fresh series. Readers were initially introduced to Hellverine during the joint venture, Ghost Rider/Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance, last year. This captivating character combines Wolverine’s physical structure with the supernatural hellfire emanating from Ghost Rider’s skull. Unlike a mere alter ego for Wolverine, Hellverine is none other than Akihiro, the resurrected son of Wolverine, also known as Daken, who was tragically killed by Victor Creed during the Sabretooth War. Despite the conclusion of Hellverine’s four-issue series this week, fans can expect more of this intriguing character in a forthcoming ongoing title.

Marvel has officially unveiled “Hellverine,” an ongoing series penned by Benjamin Percy, co-creator and writer of the title, along with artist Raffaele Ienco known for his work on “Star Wars: Darth Vader.” In this narrative, the Demon Bagra-ghul, who was once inside Wolverine, teams up with Daken to traverse both the Marvel Universe’s superhero milieu and its demonic underworld.

Regarding the thriving character of Hellverine, Percy expressed, “I was penning Wolverine and Ghost Rider. Naturally, I wanted to merge them. The ‘Weapons of Vengeance’ storyline turned out to be a massive hit due in part to Geoff Shaw and me unveiling the Hellverine – a unique portrayal of Logan with a flaming skull and claws ablaze. Fan excitement was palpable, leading to an announcement of a Marvel Legends toy and greenlighting a spin-off limited series. Crafting the mythology of the demon Bagra-ghul and resurrecting Akihiro from his brutal demise in Sabretooth War was an exhilarating experience. I’ve always had fondness for this complex character, and now I get to explore new dimensions for him. Moving forward, prepare for more chaos, occultism, and infernal flames. I appreciate the support of readers and retailers because a Hellverine ongoing series is in development. I am teaming up with talented artist Raffaele Ienco, and we have grand, terrifying plans for the future of Hellverine within the 616 universe.”
