The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail to Debut NYBG This Halloween Season

As someone who’s spent countless hours immersed in the whimsical worlds of Tim Burton, I can barely contain my excitement about the upcoming Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail at the New York Botanical Garden! Being a native New Yorker myself, experiencing this enchanting outdoor adventure feels like a perfect collision of two passions close to my heart – the city I love and the fantastical visions of one of my favorite directors.

The New York Botanical Garden is preparing some unexpected delights for moonlit evenings. For the first time, they’re introducing a light trail inspired by Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, a 1993 stop-motion animated musical that director Henry Selick described as a unique blend of Christmas and Halloween. However, the Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail will be here quickly and gone just as swiftly: it’s only available for nine weeks from September 27th to November 30th.

Boasting more than 8,300 square feet of awe-inspiring light displays crafted by advanced technology such as interactive video projections, smart LED lighting, and three-dimensional printed statues of the film’s beloved characters – including Jack Skellington, Sally, and Zero from Halloween Town – this outdoor exhibit transforms scenes and tunes from the musical into a magical experience amidst New York’s cherished garden foliage.

The uniquely exciting outdoor event organized in collaboration with Buena Vista Theatrical is set to “stimulate your senses and draw audiences into the imaginative world of the story’s mastermind, Tim Burton,” according to the experience designers Adventurelive, who are also behind the Broadway hit Hamilton, and LETSGO, known for creating the interactive exhibition Tim Burton’s Labyrinth.

As a game creator, I’m eager to craft an adventure that leaves folks in awe – something visually breathtaking and sonically mesmerizing. This isn’t just going to be another journey; it’s going to offer a unique, exhilarating way to delve into the world of Tim Burton’s tales and one of Earth’s most magnificent gardens. I’m Jeffrey Seller, founder of Adventurelive and a four-time Tony Award winner, known for productions like Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights, and Hamilton.

Speaking about LETSO founder I?aki Fern?ndez, he said, “Having produced ‘Tim Burton’s Labyrinth’ and ‘Lights in Nature’ in various cities, we are thrilled to make our debut in New York. We look forward to offering a captivating and unforgettable adventure for our visitors. They will have the opportunity to snap photos they’ve never even dreamt of and create memories that will last for years.”
