As a die-hard fan of the Alien franchise who has been collecting memorabilia since the 80s, I can confidently say that the upcoming release of the Alien: Romulus Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on vinyl is a dream come true! The attention to detail in both the soundtrack and the aesthetics of the vinyl is truly remarkable. It’s like having a piece of the Nostromo itself sitting on my shelf.
As a long-time fan of the Alien franchise, I am beyond excited for the upcoming release of Alien: Romulus, which lands in theaters this weekend. Since my early teenage years, I have been captivated by the thrilling and terrifying universe that Ridley Scott created, and I’ve eagerly awaited each new installment.
In a statement, Mo Shafeek, co-founder of Mutant, expressed that Wallfisch’s work is an incredible achievement in reconciling the disparities between sequels and prequels by harmonizing Goldsmith’s groundbreaking, discordant, and terrifying soundtracks with the melodies and monsters introduced later, while still maintaining a unique identity. Shafeek described it as a “remarkable piece of film music.”
According to the press release, “Alien: Romulus” and its score have been exceptionally successful in reconnecting longtime fans with the world that Ridley Scott, Dan O’Bannon, Jerry Goldsmith (and many other talented artists) initially created back in 1979. Spending a brief moment with Benjamin Wallfisch’s skillful composition reveals the meticulousness in every creative decision. Pre-orders for this limited edition physical release can be made on August 16th at madebymutant.com, and it comes with liner notes by director Fede Alvarez, original artwork by illustrator Kilian Eng, continuing his Alien soundtrack series. This special edition is pressed onto 2x 140gm vinyl.
