STARDOM Champion Challenges Mercedes Moné for NJPW Capital Collision

As a die-hard wrestling fan with decades of ringside experience, I can hardly contain my excitement for NJPW Capital Collision! The prospect of Mercedes Moné defending her titles against Momo Watanabe and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., is nothing short of thrilling. It’s been a long road for Moné since her career-threatening injury last year, but her resilience and determination have made her one of the most inspiring figures in the wrestling world.

In just a few weeks, New Japan Pro Wrestling will make its return to Chicago, Illinois for another exhilarating wrestling show called NJPW Capital Collision. The event promises the attendance of Mercedes Mon?, the current NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion who recently defeated Stephanie Vacquer at Forbidden Door. Interestingly, a current STARDOM Champion, Momo Watanabe, has expressed interest in taking on Mon?. You might recall that when New Japan Pro Wrestling was last in Chicago earlier this year for Windy City Riot, AZM challenged for the title during a time when Vacquer held it.

With STARDOM now being an affiliate of NJPW, we’re seeing more frequent crossover matches in AEW, which is fantastic news for both women’s divisions as they stand to benefit from this thriving collaboration. In the coming months, STARDOM will join forces with Ring of Honor and AEW for a significant pay-per-view event, “Wrestle Dynasty”, set to air live from the legendary Tokyo Dome in January.

Just prior to her bout in Chicago, Mon? is set to contest AEW’s TBS Title against Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.. This highly anticipated match will unfold at this year’s AEW All In event, happening live from Wembley Stadium. The tension between these two women has been escalating since Dr. Baker’s comeback at the AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door in June. Following some fiery verbal sparring in the ring, Mon? challenged her adversary during AEW’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Ever since that unfortunate freak accident in May last year during my match against Willow Nightingale in the New Japan Pro Wrestling ring left me injured, I was told the damage was so severe it could potentially end my career. But I’m not one to accept “no” easily. I fought back and signed with AEW, making my debut in March. During my time away from the ring, I kept a low profile, but you couldn’t miss me at various red carpet events or even last year’s AEW All In event where I was cheering on from the crowd. As for the STRONG Women’s Championship, if someone dares to take up the challenge, Watanabe will be my first opponent.

For Capital Collision, it’s set that Mustafa Ali faces off against Hiromu Takahashi. This match is on after Ali agreed to a rematch proposed by Windy City Riot. Ali will only participate if Takahashi agrees to acknowledge him as the best super junior heavyweight ever to step foot on Earth. If Takahashi emerges victorious, he’ll regain respect among NJPW fans.
