Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art Reveals Surprising Comics Crossover

As a long-time comic book enthusiast and moviegoer who’s been following the Marvel saga since the 90s, I couldn’t help but be thrilled by the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. The film not only brings together two iconic characters from my childhood, but it also delves into various alternate universes and comic crossovers that have left an indelible mark on me.

The duo of Deadpool and Wolverine has been a massive hit at the box office, leaving fans thrilled and amazed by its diverse portrayal of the Marvel universe. For those who’ve watched the movie, these surprises include various depictions of Logan Howlett / Wolverine (portrayed by Hugh Jackman), as Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, travels through different realities to find one for a partnership. Recently, concept artist Wesley Burt shared his versions of several alternate Wolverines in the film on Instagram – Patch, Age of Apocalypse Wolverine, the Wolverine in the traditional brown-and-yellow suit, and even the Wolverine from the 1997 Marvel and Image Comics crossover WildC.A.T.s/X-Men. His designs also featured an interpretation of a Wolverine from the comic book series.

“During the initial stages of creating the movie, our team brainstormed numerous ideas. To bring my favorite Wolverine versions from the comics to life, I made illustrations featuring Hugh Jackman in those roles. Some examples from my collection are Patch, Logan from the WildC.A.T.S/X-Men crossover by Travis Charest (whose work had a profound impact on me), Age of Apocalypse Weapon X (my favorite comic event as a teenager), and a simple take on the classic brown & yellow outfit. More illustrations can be found in the upcoming art book! I also included a Wolverine poster I drew for my room in ’92, as I’ve been passionate about drawing him for a long time.”
