Dark Matter Renewed For Season 2 at Apple TV+

As a fan who has traversed through countless sci-fi universes and alternate realities, I can confidently say that the renewal of Apple TV+’s “Dark Matter” for a second season is nothing short of a cosmic event! Having dived deep into Blake Crouch’s intricate narrative in the form of the novel, I am ecstatic to see how the show will further explore the multiverse and its mind-bending mysteries.

Initially, when producer Matt Tolmach acquired the rights to Dark Matter, his aim was to present it as a blockbuster film. However, as he delved deeper into the story, Tolmach felt a need for more room to expand the book’s narrative, eventually pitching it as a television series instead. This strategy has proven successful, as Apple TV+ has recently greenlit a second season for the critically-acclaimed show, which is based on the novel by renowned author Blake Crouch. The renewal comes after the gripping season finale, which would have left fans devastated if the series didn’t continue.

In “Dark Matter,” character Jason Dessen is kidnapped and transported into an alternate reality of his life. To return to his genuine family, he bravely embarks on a perilous adventure to protect them from the scariest adversary possible: his own self. The complete first season can be streamed now.

“I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who joined us for season one, whether you were already hooked on the books or just discovered this fascinating world. A big thank you goes out to our partners at Apple and Sony, my outstanding producing partner Matt Tolmach, our incredibly talented cast and crew, and the wonderful city of Chicago that warmly welcomed us,” said I, showrunner and author Blake Crouch. “As we delved into the writing and filming of season one, we realized there’s a vast story still to be told, and we’ve merely touched upon the depths of these characters as they grapple with survival and their journey home amidst mind-bending realities. Until next time in the Box!”

Matt Tolmach, executive producer, expressed his joy about the realization of a long-cherished dream – the creation of ‘Dark Matter’. He’s thrilled to witness Blake’s vision unfold and touch so many hearts. The journey of the Dessens has brought immense satisfaction, and they’re eager to expand this universe and more in season two. A big shoutout to Apple TV+, Sony, and the incredible cast and crew who made this possible. Let’s embark on this exciting journey together!
