As a devoted parent myself, I can truly relate to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds‘ heartfelt sentiments about their children. The joy, exhaustion, and boundless love that comes with raising a child is an indescribable experience – one that transcends the boundaries of fame and celebrity.
Ryan Reynolds is looking at life with Blake Lively through chimichanga-colored glasses.
Amidst the whirlwind of promotions for their individual successes, “Deadpool” and “Wolverine” for Ryan Reynolds and “It Ends With Us” for Blake Lively, the pair have been showered with affection and encouragement. The prospect of a box office competition hasn’t dampened the warmth in their relationship.
Ryan, 47, expressed during an Aug. 16 preview of Today’s Sundown Sitdown that he believes a strong sign of a good relationship is being consistently supportive of each other. He added that this has always been the case with Blake and him.
As the Deadpool star quipped, it’s the “only time in my life I’ve ever dreamt of coming in second.”
Indeed, Blake, who’s been in the limelight following rumors of a dispute with her director and co-star Justin Baldoni on “It Ends With Us”, pointed out that one unique aspect of their love story lies in their shared professional journey.
At the premiere of “It Ends With Us” on August 6th, she shared with TopMob News that they mutually assist one another. They both contribute to each other’s endeavors, as he helps in all that she does and she helps in all that he does.
The Gossip Girl alum added, “His wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.”
Sharing the opportunity to exhibit their films simultaneously has been an absolute delight for them. As Blake, aged 36, expressed, it’s incredibly exciting and feels quite surreal at home these days.
Additionally, while Blake made a brief appearance in the movie “Deadpool & Wolverine“, Ryan got involved in her film’s promotional activities. She appeared alongside her mother Tammy Reynolds, close friend Hugh Jackman, and co-star from “It Ends With Us“, Brandon Sklenar, for an interview together.
“Ryan quipped to Brandon, ‘Not every day do I get to question my wife’s co-star in a movie,’ he said, finding it quite unusual,” (paraphrased from the original sentence)
Beyond their cinematic works, this dynamic duo takes immense pride in their collaborations off-screen as well. These include their wonderful daughters, James (age 9), Inez (age 7), Betty (age 4), and their newest addition, son Olin, who was born in 2023.
On the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, I shared that it was an extraordinary blessing, a life-changing event, for me to have my family, as expressed on July 30th.
“Adapt to the turbulence. With our quartet of children, orderliness is now a rarity. Yet, one day, when they’ve all flown the nest, we’ll regain our tidy haven once more.”
Additionally, the Marvel actor expressed gratitude towards Blake for the sage advice she shared with him regarding the challenges of parenthood.
He reminisced, saying, “‘Everyone is currently staying with us,’ she told him. ‘Our entire family is here. They’re all under our roof.’ This situation, he pointed out, isn’t everlasting; it’s a temporary blessing. So, cherish the disorder that comes with it.”

“I have seen Frozen with my daughters so, so many times and people don’t know this, but if you play Frozen backwards, it’s actually a shot for shot remake of The Exorcist,” Reynolds joked on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2018.
On December 15, 2016, for the first time, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively presented their daughters James and Inez at Ryan’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony, a typical venue for celebrities who value privacy to introduce their children to the world. During his speech, Ryan expressed his feelings to Blake, “You make everything better – absolutely everything in my life better. You’ve given us two of the most wonderful children I could ever dream of having. You’ve transformed me into the father I’ve always wanted to be, when I only thought I had potential for being a fun uncle.”
Back in August 2016, just before our little angel number two made her grand entrance, I shared with TopMob News my heartfelt sentiment: “There’s no experience on this planet quite as humbling and fulfilling as becoming a parent. It’s the most incredible blessing life could bestow upon someone.”
Back in 2016, I shared with NW Magazine that being a new mom isn’t always a walk in the park, what with the messy diaper changes and late-night feedings. But let me tell you, it’s all worth it! In those tough moments when exhaustion sets in, I remind myself just how lucky I am to be experiencing this incredible journey.
In 2015, during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Reynolds expressed his deep affection for his wife and daughter. However, he emphasized the priority of their well-being, stating, “I’d give my life for you. I could never love anything more than I love you.” This sentiment, he clarified, was what he would say to his spouse. And as soon as I looked into that baby’s eyes, I knew instantly that in any threatening situation, I would sacrifice my wife to protect that child.
Following his distinctive witty style, Reynolds posted a humorous comment about parenting to his Twitter audience in 2016: “Being a dad is the most incredible sensation on the planet. Except for those fantastic years when I didn’t have a kid, naturally.”
Reynolds mentioned during an interview on NBC’s Today show in 2016 that he’s often the one tackling tough tasks. He enjoys taking care of the difficult jobs and is willing to do so. She too takes on her share, but he particularly relishes waking up in the middle of the night for such duties, and handling whatever else might come his way.
Fatherhood, he said, has been “amazing.”
2016 saw Reynolds describing one of those exceptional mornings when his daughter was reluctant to let him leave, as his wife was still asleep. It felt like he didn’t want to go, but rather, it was a painful longing for him.
In 2016, during the Super Bowl, Ryan Reynolds mentioned an unusual incident. His daughter, upon seeing the game, recognized him. Surprisingly, there were twelve versions of him on screen, which to her, was equivalent to seeing 24 unnecessary figures. She showed little excitement about it and casually commented, “Eh, whatever.”
2016 saw Ryan making a light-hearted remark to his Twitter audience: “It’s tough as nails letting my little one venture out alone for the first time, and I was quite a wreck handing her over at Burning Man.”
2015 saw the proud father expressing his joy by saying, “She’s fantastic! She really is!” before sharing an update about their then-infant son, James. He humorously noted that they were hearing many sounds, but nothing resembling clear English yet. Laughingly, he mentioned teasing her a lot at that time.
“In 2015, on Instagram, Lively expressed her deep-seated belief, ever since our child was born, that you were probably the father. Her message ended with ‘#ILoveYouSoMuchIt’sSilly’.”
2016 saw Blake Lively express that raising a child is like navigating through the unpredictable. You never know when you’ll encounter messy situations, heartwarming smiles, or sudden tears. It can sometimes feel like caring for an erratic individual. However, despite the challenges, once you become a parent, it’s hard to imagine life without your child because they grow so fast. In essence, she said she’d be an elderly woman with a baby if given the chance.
Back in 2015, I asserted that it’s simply extraordinary – what unites us all is the profound bond we share as families. Despite having diverse professions, we are all integral parts of someone’s family circle. It’s an incredibly heartwarming aspect, if you ask me.
2015 saw Reynolds sharing on Twitter that his daughter gave him an invaluable gift on Father’s Day – a smile. This heartwarming gesture moved him so much that he took a suitcase and embarked on a six-year journey to write a book about parenthood.
In my line of work, there have been instances when I’ve found myself strolling along without realizing I’d been doing so for a good five minutes. I shared this little tidbit during an interview with TopMob News, as we discussed my film, “Woman in Gold,” back in 2015.
“However, it seems you adore it. Even in the dead of night, you find yourself with a broad, goofy grin. I mentioned this to someone else. In fact, anything else that interrupted your sleep every 45 minutes would likely be met with annoyance. But when it comes to a baby, it’s an event you cherish above all.”
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “In the world we live in, casual encounters, shared drinks, and then starting a family – that’s quite common. However, in this unique case, I was completely sober. Let me tell you, Ryan Reynolds made us laugh in 2016 when he quipped,”
Oh, it’s simply astounding! Time and again, I find myself in awe of something so ordinary yet profoundly impactful – life itself. It never ceases to amuse me, especially when certain individuals, often high-profile ones, discuss their offspring. You know the drill; they’ll say things like, “My child is the one and only to have ever emerged from a womb!” It always makes me chuckle because, well, let’s face it, we’ve all been there!
In 2015, Reynolds expressed his feelings about James, who was the only child at the time, saying “Many have done this before, but I must add a touch of humility. Yet, I adore him immensely.” He went on to say, “I am utterly devoted to that boy. It’s a bit excessive. She has me so entwined with her little finger that it seems foolish. When she says ‘Dada’, I would walk through a solid wall just to reach her.”
