As a passionate gamer and avid X-Men fan, I’ve been following the recent developments regarding Beau DeMayo, the showrunner of X-Men ’97. Last week, Disney took away his credits for Season 2 without providing any explanation. I’ve noticed that DeMayo has been pretty quiet about it all, except for a few comments here and there on social media about various X-Men ’97 episodes and the overwhelmingly positive fan response.
As a seasoned gamer who’s tackled many Disney games, the playbook usually doesn’t change – it’s all sunshine and rainbows on the surface, but beneath that, they sneakily try to embed hidden clauses in contracts that aim to muzzle the truth and restrict me from exercising my fundamental rights. That’s what attorney Bryan Freedman of Freedman Taitelman + Cooley pointed out in a statement to Variety.
In March 2024, Mr. DeMayo was let go from Marvel after an internal probe, as stated by a representative from Marvel (as reported by The Hollywood Reporter). Due to the seriousness of the results, we cut ties with him right away, and he no longer has any connection with Marvel.
