Pokemon TCG Pocket Reveals Stunning New Cards

As a lifelong Pokémon enthusiast who has been collecting and battling with cards since the good old Red and Blue days, this latest announcement about the new Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket app has me absolutely thrilled! The fact that they’ve revealed Articuno ex, Squirtle, and Pidgeot cards is just the cherry on top of an already mouth-watering release.

Participants in the Pokemon World Championships were given an early look at the upcoming “Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket” app, with various new cards unveiled during the event. The Pokemon World Championships, held in Honolulu, Hawaii, kicked off this weekend – it’s the finale of a year-long series of Pokemon competitions. In addition to the competitive events, the convention showcased numerous non-competitive activities and surprises, such as a sneak peek at the upcoming “Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket” app, set for release later in the year.

At the exhibition, attendees had the opportunity to unwrap packs from the upcoming Genetic Apex card game, expected to kickstart a new mobile app. Although some cards featured artwork reminiscent of traditional card decks, there were also newly unveiled cards, such as a sneak peek at the Articuno EX card and full-art variants of Squirtle and Pidgeot. The Pokemon Company International released official images for all three cards, which are displayed below.

Similar to cards presented for the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, these cards seem to employ mechanics similar to those found in the original Pokemon Trading Card Game app. For example, the Articuno ex card awards two prizes upon being knocked out, much like Pokemon ex cards in the original version. However, a notable difference is that the cards appear to have lower Hit Points (HP) and cheaper energy costs for moves, which could significantly quicken gameplay.

The newly introduced application seems to occupy a similar realm as both Marvel Snap and Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Links, offering fast-paced digital gameplay and a focus on accumulating fresh cards. Notably, users will be granted multiple free packs daily, and certain cards will feature alternate versions or captivating digital artwork that can be explored within the app.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will be released later this year.
