As a fan who has been eagerly waiting for more adventures of Shang-Chi, it’s truly heartening to hear that Simu Liu and the team are working tirelessly on the sequel. It’s like watching a phoenix rise from the ashes, only this time, it’s our favorite martial arts master!
Simu Liu, the star of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” recently shared some exciting news about the sequel. In an interview with The Press Trust of India during the release of his movie “Jackpot” on Prime Video, Liu confirmed that work is ongoing for the Shang-Chi sequel, despite not being able to reveal specific details due to Marvel Studios’ usual procedures. With some projects being affected by restructuring and budget cuts in recent times, it’s reassuring to know that the highly anticipated Phase 4 standout will indeed have a second outing.
Liu started by saying, “Much of it exceeds my level of responsibility, but I assure you it’s moving forward. Needless to say, I’m thrilled to contribute to it, and it promises to be incredible. I’m afraid I can’t reveal any more details than that.”
Liu also discussed collaborating with John Cena and Awkwafina once more, having worked together in ‘Shang-Chi’ and now in ‘Barbie’. Liu praised Cena’s dedication to his craft. “John Cena and I are both passionate about our work. We got excited during the preparation phase, rehearsals, and even when running choreography between takes. He’s a lifelong learner, and it was a pleasure working with him.”
When Will We See Shang-Chi Again?
For quite a while now, folks have been curious about the follow-up to “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings“. Every 3 to 4 months, either Destin Daniel Cretton or Simu Liu finds themselves answering questions about the sequel’s progress. Recently, during the premiere for Arthur the King, the lead star of “Shang-Chi” took a moment to speak with ComicBook to alleviate fan concerns and confirm that the sequel is indeed in the works. However, there are certain decisions that are beyond his reach, which he has no control over.
Liu explained to us on the red carpet that when they receive a call like “Hey, this is what you’re involved in, this is where you’ll appear, and this is when you’ll need to be unavailable,” that’s typically how things unfold. Destin, who’s such an exceptional filmmaker, will be working on the sequel, and we can’t wait to see his ideas materialize. I believe he’ll do a fantastic job.
At what point would you estimate we’ll receive a fresh Shang-Chi update? Keep up with all the latest pop culture news by following us at @ComicBook on your favorite social media platforms!
