Hollow Knight: Silksong Won’t be at Gamescom Opening Night Live

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of both anticipation and frustration as Gamescom’s Opening Night Live approaches. On one hand, the prospect of finally getting a peek at the highly anticipated “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” and “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” is exhilarating. But on the other, the absence of any news about “Hollow Knight: Silksong” has left a void in my gaming heart that no amount of pixelated explosions or whip-cracking can fill.

The much-anticipated Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event is scheduled for August 20th, and some big names in gaming such as “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” and “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” have been confirmed to be present. As with all showcases, there’s a lot of excitement about whether Team Cherry’s long-awaited sequel “Hollow Knight: Silksong” will make an appearance too.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but Silksong won’t be releasing on Tuesday at ONL. Producer and host Geoff Keighley confirmed this fact. It’s been more than five years since the game was initially announced, and we’re still waiting for a release date.

The popular Metroidvania game sequel to Hollow Knight, which has been universally praised, recently received ratings from classification boards in South Korea, Australia, and the United States. Additionally, an Xbox Store page was launched last Spring. However, Team Cherry hasn’t provided any updates yet. One of the lead playtesters mentioned last June that the game isn’t stuck in development limbo, although this comment should be taken with a grain of salt.

The game titled “Hollow Knight: Silksong” is currently being worked on for the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch platforms. Additionally, it’s set to be available on the first day of release for Game Pass subscribers.

Just to get this out of the way, no Silksong on Tuesday at ONL. @TeamCherryGames is still cooking.
