New Pokemon Go Trailer Hypes Dynamax and Gigantamax for New Season

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Pokémon adventures under my belt, I must say, the anticipation for Dynamax and Gigantamax forms in Pokémon Go is palpable! Ever since the Jurassic Park-esque teaser trailer dropped, I’ve been on pins and needles.

It’s no secret anymore that Dynamax and Gigantamax features are coming to Pokemon Go, as Niantic hinted at it back in July with an anniversary art piece featuring a Dynamax Wartortle. This month, the game received an update, introducing icons for Dynamax and Gigantamax directly within the game. Recently, Niantic officially announced that these features will be introduced next season. A new trailer has been released, giving us a sneak peek of what to expect from this addition, with a focus on the immense size of these Pokemon in the game.

As I’m lounging on the beach, playing Pokémon Go, trying to snag a Krabby, suddenly, a thunderous roar echoes around me. My water cup begins to quiver, mirroring the iconic moment from Jurassic Park. The cup tips over and spills, just as the sky darkens in an instant, similar to when a Pokémon unleashes its Dynamax or Gigantamax form in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The trailer concludes with a massive shadow falling over me, cast by an unknown Pokémon. You can check out the teaser video below.

Regrettably, we haven’t figured out yet how Dynamax and Gigantamax will function in Pokemon Go. In Pokemon Sword and Shield, Pokemon could only utilize Dynamax or Gigantamax in areas with Power Spots. The method through which Gigantamax forms might be added to the game remains unclear; it’s speculated they may be implemented similarly to Mega Evolutions. In Pokemon Go, Mega Evolution necessitates specific Mega Energy, which can be acquired either by participating in Mega Raids or completing certain in-game tasks. It’s plausible that Pokemon Go could adopt a similar strategy, requiring players to obtain Max Soup or catch specific Pokemon with the Gigantamax Factor.

The ongoing season for Pokemon Go is wrapping up on September 3rd, which means we’ll likely get more details about Dynamax and Gigantamax very soon. Moreover, it seems that the upcoming season of Pokemon Sword and Shield will be filled with exciting content related to the Galar region, such as the introduction of new Pokemon like Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble, and Morpeko.
