She described the diagnosis as being at a very early stage, emphasizing “stage zero.” Despite this, she expressed confidence in her recovery. At first, Fishel wanted to keep her diagnosis private, but eventually decided to go public for the benefit of her audience. She urged her fans to undergo regular cancer screenings, hoping that it might help detect similar conditions at an early stage.
Fishel clarified, “I have been diagnosed with a high-grade DCIS with micro-invasion. But don’t worry, I will be okay.” She explained that she will undergo surgery to remove it and will follow up with treatment afterwards. She has had to make many decisions in the past few days due to this situation.
She explained, “I’m revealing this because it reminds me of times when someone I care about has been diagnosed with cancer. In those moments, you might wonder, ‘How would I handle it if that were me? What steps would I take in such a situation?’ For years, I assumed I would keep quiet about it. I would only confide in a select few and bear the pain alone. Then, when I’d emerge from the ordeal, I thought I would share my experiences with others. However, as I grow older, I’ve come to understand the importance of learning from other people’s stories, especially at the start or during the most challenging phases.”
