Joker 3: Director Todd Phillips Addresses Sequel

As a gamer with a soft spot for dark, gritty narratives and a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling, I’ve been captivated by the Joker saga since its inception. The first film was a masterpiece that pushed boundaries, and the sequel, Joker: Folie A Deux, seems poised to continue that trend.

Todd Phillips has hinted at the possibility of a third “Joker” movie, but it seems unlikely for now as he considers the second film, titled “Joker: Folie A Deux,” to be the final chapter in Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of the Batman villain. Warner Bros. is set to unveil the sequel this fall, and Phillips suggests that they have said all they wanted to in this universe. Fans hoping for a third installment may have a long wait ahead, but it’s important to remember that nothing is ever completely off the table, as “Joker: Folie A Deux” still exists as a possibility, although Phillips has shown only modest interest in continuing the franchise.

Despite the solid foundation from the filmmaker behind the Oscar-winning film and its upcoming sequel, if he collaborates with Joaquin Phoenix once more, it might take a humorous turn. Given the legendary origin tale surrounding this project – Paul Thomas Anderson aiming to team up with the revered actor for a dark comedy but initially struggling to secure financing – now that they’ve demonstrated their on-screen chemistry, it could become a reality.

Phillips expresses his desire to continue collaborating with Joaquin in a comedic project. He believes that given Joaquin’s loose and humorous nature, such a collaboration could be highly entertaining. Additionally, he suggests that the current times call for comedies, as people seem to crave them. The tagline from the trailer of ‘Joker 2‘, “What the world needs now is love,” resonates with him, but he adds that we also need a good laugh.

Joker 2 Takes Things To The Stage

The sequel to “Joker: Folie A Deux” appears to be more earthbound than many recent comic book films, as portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Phoenix revealed that he sought vocal guidance from Lady Gaga and explained how Arthur Fleck’s singing abilities contribute to the grounded tone reminiscent of the original movie. It seems we’re in for a thrilling experience.

Phoenix commented, “Gaga often encouraged me by saying, ‘Follow your instincts, it’s all good.’ As someone not accustomed to performing, this could sometimes feel awkward yet thrilling.”

He emphasized the significance of preserving it, acknowledging its rough phrasing and occasional off-key moments. Arthur, who had grown up listening to these songs on the radio, wasn’t meant to be a polished singer. Instead, he was supposed to embody someone caught off guard, singing in the shower spontaneously.
