Tarsier Studios Announces Reanimal During Gamescom

As a seasoned horror game enthusiast with a knack for unraveling twisted narratives, I can hardly contain my excitement for Tarsier Studio’s upcoming masterpiece – Reanimal! Having been captivated by their chilling creations like Little Nightmares, I find myself drawn once again to the eerie allure of a dark and mysterious island.

At the Gamescom Opening Night Live broadcast, the makers of the initial two Little Nightmares games, Tarsier Studios, unveiled their upcoming chilling creation – Reanimal. With Reanimal, Tarsier aims to craft their most monumental game yet, but they’re sticking with the horror genre that has earned them recognition. The game is described as a cooperative horror adventure where children are trapped on a nightmarish version of their home island, seeking to rescue their friends while enduring the psychological horrors of the island. As Tarsier shared during a recent press event for the game, Reanimal will focus heavily on tension and atmosphere, with the developers promising an even darker and grittier tale than before. You can watch the newly released trailer for the game above.

In addition to the usual adventure found in Tarsier games, Reanimal introduces a new dimension by enabling underwater exploration via a boat. This game offers multiple play styles, including a single-player mode for those who prefer solitude, and an AI companion takes the role of your sibling in this perilous journey. For those who’d rather share the adventure, Reanimal supports local and online co-op, with Tarsier Games emphasizing that shared horror experiences are more enjoyable with friends. In a co-op gameplay session, players share a camera to ensure they stay close, and Tarsier describes the experience as a “grounded, minimalistic approach” to cooperative play.

In the unveiling video, Reanimal showcases grotesque, contorted creatures and settings, intending to capitalize on Tarsier Studios’ abilities to produce a game that is eerie, suspenseful, and immersive in its ambiance.

Currently, Tarsier hasn’t disclosed a specific launch date for the game Reanimal. However, you can add it to your wishlist as it’s expected to be released on various platforms in the future, such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Windows PC.
