As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, the announcement of Mafia: The Old Country has sent ripples of excitement through my virtual world. Having played and loved every installment in the Mafia series, I can’t help but feel like I’ve been granted an exclusive pass to a secret club with this prequel.


I can hardly contain my excitement! At long last, the next installment in the Mafia series has been officially unveiled, as rumors had suggested for months. Dubbed “Mafia: The Old Country,” this highly anticipated title was announced by 2K and developer Hangar 13 to cap off Gamescom Opening Night Live.

According to earlier reports, “Mafia: The Old Country” is a prequel, taking place in the 1900s, and it will transport players to Sicily to explore the roots of organized crime. It’s yet to be confirmed if the original game’s Don Salieri will reappear, as leaks have suggested this might be the case.

As a long-time fan of the Mafia series, I can hardly contain my excitement! Ever since I played the original Mafia back in the day, I’ve been hooked. Now, 2K and Hangar 13 are giving us more information about the upcoming title this December! I remember the thrill of playing the previous games, the immersive storylines, and the captivating characters. I can only imagine what they have in store for us this time around. I’m counting down the days until we get to learn more about this new addition to the Mafia franchise!

The game titled “Mafia: The Old Country” is currently being worked on for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. According to 2K, we can expect this game to hit shelves in the fiscal year 2026, which starts no sooner than April 2025.
