Warner Bros. Discovery Reportedly Offers AEW Huge Media Rights Increase

As a long-time wrestling enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation as AEW’s negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery reach their climax. Having witnessed the meteoric rise of this dynamic promotion since its inception, it’s heartening to see them being offered “at least double” of what their current deal is said to be. It’s a testament to Tony Khan’s vision and the hard work of everyone involved in AEW that they are now in such a strong position.

2024 is drawing to a close, and with it, AEW’s existing contract with Warner Bros. Discovery is nearing its end. Throughout much of this year, there have been ongoing negotiations between the two parties, with AEW President Tony Khan expressing positivity about their partnership. Earlier reports suggested that AEW was dissatisfied with the proposed deal, but more recent information from Fightful Select indicates that sources claim AEW was offered a significant increase – at least double what their current contract is said to be. Although specific figures haven’t been disclosed, this represents a substantial boost for the young promotion. It remains uncertain whether this new offer incorporates all of AEW’s projects or Ring of Honor, which Khan currently oversees. Previously, he hinted that negotiations included the possibility of including ROH in their next contract.

Earlier this month, Khan hinted in various media interviews that AEW’s most significant agreement is about to happen soon. He expressed his conviction that their partnership is growing stronger with each passing day. With Warner Bros. Discovery no longer holding the rights to the NBA, it provides AEW an excellent opportunity to negotiate a more advantageous deal. Clearly, they would be seeking to fill the gap left by the NBA on TBS, but losing AEW would also be a significant blow.

According to Khan, expressed in a conversation with ComicBook back in July, there’s a strong desire for our presence which is thrilling, and we’re simply sorting through the details. We have three TV series that add up to five hours of television weekly. I believe the current standard of Dynamite is at its peak. It’s fantastic being here on TBS and TNT. I think there are numerous opportunities and many more things we can achieve together.

For now, AEW is returning to the United Kingdom this week, marking the first-ever occurrence of both AEW Dynamite/Collision and the second-ever AEW All In in the U.K. The response from fans overseas has been overwhelmingly positive, with many eagerly anticipating more professional wrestling action. Although AEW might not be back in London for AEW All In next year, Khan has hinted at future plans to return.

All Through 2025, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has several stadium events lined up, one of which is the Tokyo Dome hosting a unique joint pay-per-view event with multiple companies involved. Additionally, rumors are swirling about AEW possibly venturing to another renowned wrestling location in 2025; however, this information remains unconfirmed at present.

Stay tuned to ComicBook for news and updates on AEW.
