In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Smith said he would want to create nine seasons, with the Slow Horses story spanning across nine books.
“I think Mick [Herron] is writing the ninth now, but we’ll have to see what happens,” he explained.
Based on Apple’s desires and the audience’s interest, I lean more towards creating a cliffhanger effect instead of overstaying my welcome. However, there’s plenty of room for exploration within the world of this series.
However, it’s not just the nine seasons that occupy Smith’s thoughts; he also expresses his desire to develop a spin-off series, inspired by Herron’s book “The Secret Hours,” which explores the history behind the character Lamb in greater depth.
“He [Herron] brings in all these other existing characters,” Smith told the publication.
“This is a fantastic book, and I believe it could work well as a mini-series, movie, or similar format. I understand that Gary is eager to continue portraying his character, provided there’s demand for it.”

Previously, Lamb collaborated with Cartwright, and understands more than most that he’s not an innocent elderly man. Therefore, when a distress signal triggers at the Intelligence Service headquarters, it’s Lamb who is summoned to confirm the identity of the deceased. Moreover, it will be Lamb who takes whatever measures are required to safeguard an agent in danger.
