As a dedicated admirer of the enchanting world that Jude Tindall wove through her captivating scripts, I am deeply saddened by the news of her passing. Her stories, brimming with warmth and humor, have been a constant source of delight for me, offering an escape into the realms of cosy crime and timeless mysteries.


Tributes have been paid to beloved TV writer Jude Tindall, following her death.

Tindall, responsible for crafting Sister Boniface Mysteries and collaborating on Shakespeare & Hathaway, as well as contributing to Father Brown, Casualty, Land Girls, and Doctors, tragically passed away a few weeks into filming the fourth season of Sister Boniface Mysteries.

BBC Studios announced that she had passed away, but the reason for her demise remains undisclosed at this time.

I regretfully inform you that the cherished author behind Sister Boniface, a partner in the creation of Shakespeare and Hathaway, and a maestro of cozy crime, Jude Tindall, has departed from us.

It continued: “Jude was a brilliant writer, scripting countless episodes of Sister Boniface, Father Brown, Casualty, Land Girls and Doctors. Those who had the privilege to work with her will know just how passionate she was about her shows and how generous she was in helping to develop the next generation of writers and producers.

“She’ll be deeply missed by the BBC Studios Drama team and our thoughts remain with her family.”

Starting this coming Friday, I’ll be eagerly tuning into BBC One for the premiere of Sister Boniface! The network has announced a heartfelt dedication of the first episode to the memory of its beloved writer who sadly passed away.

Online, fans and colleagues have posted tributes to the late writer Jude Tindall, who was a talented contributor to the show “Father Brown,” where John Burton portrays Sergeant Daniel Goodfellow. Burton expressed his sorrow by saying: “One of our exceptional writers for this series has passed away – Jude Tindall.”

Actor colleague Richard Price, who starred in several Father Brown episodes, commented: “I thought it necessary to honor the marvelous Jude Tindall following the unfortunate news of her death.”

I was fortunate enough to feature in several episodes of Jude’s show, #FatherBrown. I recall her visiting the set, eager to witness how her characters, Amenhotep and the Wraith in Boniface, were brought to life on screen – roles that I had the opportunity to play.

 

He went on saying: “She was an extraordinary creator with a unique flair. One of my favorite episodes she wrote, The Tree Of Truth, will forever hold a special place in me. She always radiated positivity whenever she arrived at set and valued everyone – cast, crew, and supporting artists – for giving life to her scripts. It’s truly heartbreaking to see such talent depart from the industry. Thank you Jude for your eloquent storytelling. Rest In Peace, dear woman.”
