The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Blu-Ray and DVD Gets Release Date

As a long-time fanatic of The Walking Dead, my heart skipped a beat when I heard about the upcoming release of “The Ones Who Live”! After following Rick Grimes and Michonne’s journey since day one, seeing them reunite on screen is like coming home to an old friend. The anticipation has been building ever since Rick was helicoptered away in season 9, and now that we’re getting a spinoff centered around their reunion, I can hardly contain my excitement!

Rick and Michonne are making their way home, as confirmed by AMC. They’re bringing with them the entire six-episode run of “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” in a special Blu-ray Steelbook set. This highly anticipated series sees the return of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). The RLJE Films release will be available for purchase on both Blu-ray and DVD, offering an exclusive bonus – a collectible CRM embroidered patch, a replica of the badge worn by Rick and Michonne in the “Walking Dead” spinoff. This limited edition patch is only included with the Steelbook version.

“Those Who Endure” narrates an epic romance between two legendary figures, Rick (Lincoln) and Michonne (Gurira), as they navigate a transformed world. Separated by vast distances, an indescribable force, and the lingering shadows of their past selves, they are plunged into a perilous new territory, where life is defined by battles against the undead and, eventually, against surviving humans. In this hostile landscape filled with unfamiliar dangers, Rick and Michonne will go to great lengths to reunite and, together, battle their way back home.

Lincoln and Gurira collaborated to co-create, produce, and oversee the limited series, with Scott M. Gimple serving as showrunner and chief content officer for the Walking Dead Universe. The series not only brought back the long-awaited duo (who were apart when Rick was airlifted in season 9 of The Walking Dead in 2018) but also welcomed the return of Jadis, played by Pollyanna McIntosh, and introduced new characters like Pearl Thorne (Lesley-Ann Brandt), Lt. Col. Donald Okafor (Craig Tate), beloved character Nat (Matthew August Jeffers), and CRM Major General Beale (Terry O’Quinn).

In simple terms, the debut of “The Show” broke the viewership record on streaming platform AMC+ when it premiered in February 2024. It became the top cable drama debut of that specific TV season among key demographics on both AMC and AMC+. The first episode featuring Rick attracted almost 3 million viewers within Nielsen’s live+3 ratings, making it the largest premiere night audience for a new series on AMC since 2018.

At present, all six episodes can be streamed on AMC+ and through Sky’s NOW platform in the U.K. By January 2025, “The Ones Who Live” will be added to the lineup of “Walking Dead” spinoffs available on Netflix.
