Dead Rising Remaster Reveals Frank West's New Voice Actor

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the voice change for Frank West in the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has left me a tad disoriented. I’ve known Terence J. Rotolo’s gravelly voice as Frank West for so long that it feels like hearing a different actor play my favorite journalist is like finding out that Santa Claus isn’t real.

In the upcoming “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster,” Capcom has shared who will be lending their voice to the character Frank West. When the latest version of “Dead Rising” was initially announced in June, eagle-eyed fans quickly picked up on the fact that West’s usual voice actor, Terence J. Rotolo, sounded different than before. Rotolo himself later clarified that he wasn’t asked to return for the “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.” Since then, fans have been eagerly speculating about who would be taking over the role from Rotolo. Now, we finally know the answer.

In a conversation with IGN, the team responsible for the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster announced that Jas Patrick will be playing the role of Frank West in this iteration. Patrick is a skilled voice actor with a resume featuring games such as Octopath Traveler II, Immortals of Aveum, Chivalry II, and Smite. The team at Capcom expressed their satisfaction with Patrick’s work on Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

In a different part of this interview, Capcom was inquired about why they didn’t ask Rotolo to reprise his role as Frank West. However, the developers at Capcom evaded the question and simply stated that they couldn’t bring him back due to unspecified reasons. Regardless, Capcom commended Rotolo’s previous performances as Frank West and genuinely thanked him for his impactful contributions to the Dead Rising series.

Experiencing the initial stages of the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, transitioning from Rotolo to Patrick as Frank West is quite an abrupt change. Now, this doesn’t mean Patrick’s interpretation of Frank West is poor in any way, but fans who are well-versed with the original Dead Rising might find it peculiar hearing a new voice for their beloved character. However, overall, the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is looking promising and should satisfy many eager for a revival of the series.

I’m pumped! Next month, on the 18th of September, I’ll be diving into the zombie-infested world of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster on my PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. Initially, it’s a digital-only release, but fear not, gamers! We’ll get our hands on the physical copy come November. Let the apocalypse commence!
