Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art Reveals Punk Variant Cut From Film

As a gamer with decades of comic book-inspired video games under my belt, I must admit that the latest revelations about Deadpool & Wolverine are nothing short of mind-blowing! The concept art of Punkpool has me reminiscing about the days when I used to rock my Misfits t-shirt in the arcade, fighting off hordes of baddies with a controller in hand.

As a die-hard gamer, I can’t help but feel pumped about the incredible success of Deadpool and Wolverine at the box office! Marvel Studios is giving us a peek behind the scenes, and it’s been an absolute goldmine of exciting revelations. Just this past week, there’s been a flood of concept art popping up everywhere, showcasing an intriguing fusion of Wolverine and Deadpool that didn’t make it to the final cut, as well as a Deadpool design inspired by Rob Liefeld’s iconic comics. Now, visual development artist David Masson San Gabriel has shared a fresh take on everyone’s favorite anti-hero – a Spider-Punk-inspired Deadpool! It’s like being a kid in a candy store for us fans!

San Gabriel posted on Instagram, “Here’s another design that didn’t quite fit, Punkpool! I’ll soon share the ones that ended up in the movie.” In this illustration, Deadpool sports a mohawk, plaid trousers, and enough spiked attire to make The Misfits look tame. Check out the concept art below.

During our conversation at San Diego Comic-Con, the comic artist, Liefeld, expressed that he wasn’t taken aback by the movie’s Deadpool & Wolverine success at the box office.

“When I learned that Deadpool & Wolverine had earned $200 million on their opening day,” Liefeld commented, “I wasn’t surprised because I’d been predicting it would have a ‘2’ in its earnings. People seem to be fixated on the rating, but times have changed. Nowadays, children aren’t confined by PG-13 and R ratings like they were ten years ago. Today’s kids are exposed to more advanced content online, so let’s break free from our current rating and move forward!”

He also mentioned that it’s a pleasure being associated with such big-name films which made it to the list of top ten highest opening weekends. They truly earned this recognition.
