As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for gritty mobster games and a soft spot for the Godfather trilogy, I must admit that the teaser for Mafia: The Old Country has piqued my interest. With its tantalizing glimpse into the criminal underworld of 1900s Sicily, it seems to be taking a bold step away from the usual American setting we’ve come to expect in this genre.
Eight years after Mafia 3, the acclaimed mobster franchise has teased a new entry.
For a few years now, Hangar 13 has been hinting that they were developing something, and this week at Gamescom, they unveiled the trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, which they’ve been working on.
In the “old nation” of Sicily during the 1900s, similar to the setting of the prequel segments in The Godfather Part 2, this game offers a distinctive perspective within the gangster-themed genre.
Speaking of crime and gangsters, could this title be a contender to rival Grand Theft Auto 6?
Time will tell. For now, though, let’s take a closer look at what we know Mafia: The Old Country.

At the moment, we don’t have an exact release date, but we know it will come out sometime in 2025.
Can I pre-order Mafia: The Old Country?

Which consoles and platforms can play Mafia: The Old Country?

Of course, it remains uncertain what the future holds for Nintendo’s upcoming console. Rest assured, we will keep this page updated whenever new information becomes available.
Mafia: The Old Country gameplay and story details
As I delve into the upcoming cinematic experience, Mafia: The Old Country, I must admit that the plot details remain somewhat elusive at this juncture. However, what we do know is that the film is set against a backdrop of an intriguing time period, which promises to be a captivating setting for the tale that unfolds.
At the dawn of the 20th century, this is where we find ourselves traveling furthest in terms of the time period covered by a Mafia game, as earlier ones were set in the ’30s to ’60s.
It dives into a similar time in history to Red Dead Redemption, so this should be interesting.
We know even less about the gameplay, because the trailer teased very little. Speaking of which…
