The Crow Reboot Soundtrack Includes Joy Division, Enya

As a child of the ’90s, I can vividly remember the impact “The Crow” made on me and millions of others. The original soundtrack was a staple in my CD player, with tracks like The Cure’s “Burn” and Rage Against the Machine’s “The Power of Soul” echoing through my speakers. So, when I heard that they were releasing a new version of “The Crow” in 2024, I was both excited and skeptical.

The musical score for the upcoming film “The Crow” is approaching, and the complete playlist has been disclosed. Notable artists on this list include Joy Division, Enya, and Debussy, offering a diverse range but maintaining a consistent, somber ambiance. This soundtrack deserves attention as the music of “The Crow” has been instrumental in the franchise’s charm for years. The 2024 movie features Bill Skarsgård (from “IT”), FKA twigs (from “Honeyboy”), and Danny Huston (from “Succession”). It is said that this film represents a fresh start for the story, suggesting it will likely follow the same comic books as the initial “The Crow” movie released in 1994. This original film was highly successful, with its hit soundtrack and a style that was five years ahead of its era.

Reaching the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, “The Crow: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” saw impressive domestic sales of approximately 3.8 million copies and was awarded 3x Platinum certification by the RIAA. This edition included hits from bands such as The Cure, Rage Against the Machine, and Stone Temple Pilots, with one Stone Temple Pilots track peaking at #3 on Billboard’s mainstream rock charts.

Below is the full soundtrack lineup for the 2024 film (as reported by The AV Club):

The film “The Crow” has been notoriously challenging to bring to life over the past ten years, with numerous changes in directors, actors, and studios along its difficult journey to cinemas. It wasn’t until teasers began appearing that it felt like a tangible project people could eventually see.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that “The Crow” is helmed by the skilled director Rupert Sanders, known for movies like “Foundation,” “Ghost in the Shell,” and “Snow White and The Huntsman.” The script is penned by Zach Baylin, who has previously worked on “King Richard” and will be contributing to the upcoming “Creed III.” The production team includes Molly Hassel, Victor Hadida, John Jencks, and Edward R. Pressman, each with impressive portfolios in films like “Braven,” “Resident Evil” and “Silent Hill” franchises, “Honest Thief,” “Guns Akimbo,” and “American Psycho,” respectively. Can’t wait to see what they bring to this iconic project!

The Crow will be in theaters tomorrow, August 23rd.
