TikTok’s “Dancing Engineer” Dead at 34 After Contracting Dengue Fever

As an avid follower of TikTok, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of loss and sadness upon hearing about the passing of Ingeniero Bailarín (Dancing Engineer), Jainer Moisés Pinedo Vargas. His vibrant energy, infectious smile, and unique dance moves brought joy to countless people around the world.

The TikTok community has lost a fun-loving star.

On August 19, it was reported by Peruvian publication Peru 21 that Jainer Moisés Pinedo Vargas, popularly known as the TikToker Dancing Engineer, passed away at the age of 34 following complications from dengue fever, a mosquito-transmitted viral illness.

In a statement to Peru 21, Deputy Minister of Public Health Ricardo Peña Sánchez revealed that the initially diagnosed patient with dengue was subsequently found to have pleural effusion, respiratory failure, and ultimately Hodgkin’s lymphoma during his hospital stay at Almanzor Aguinaga Asenjo hospital. He added that the patient’s underlying neoplastic condition likely contributed to the unfortunate outcome.

34-year-old, who recently passed away, contracted the disease during his work in the Condorcanqui province of Peru. Since dengue fever typically occurs during the summer months in this South American nation, his death remains under investigation.

According to Sanchez on Peru 21, the CDC’s Quick Reaction Team is currently probing into the matter. Moreover, considering the duration of development, it seems highly probable that this illness is indeed connected to the recent event.

Vargas’ mother, Betty Vargas García, later shared a note of grief to her Facebook page.

“Rest in peace beloved son,” García wrote. “We are going to miss you!!!”

In 2021, Vargas, a forest engineer by profession, began sharing content on TikTok. He gained popularity for his dance moves that were simple to imitate, earning him millions of views on his videos and amassing over 200,000 followers on the video platform, as well as more than 50,000 followers on Instagram.

34-year-old’s final post was made earlier this month, featuring him demonstrating his dance skills from within a hospital setting.

He expressed in his August 1st video that he had been eager to experiment with this popular fad for quite some time, yet found himself unable to do so. However, now, even with only 20% of his energy, he’s confident it can be accomplished!

Despite fighting his health issues, Vargas managed to keep a cheerful attitude, occasionally making light-hearted comments about his incontinence pad slipping near his ankles. His fans still express their grief over him on various social media platforms.

“A fan lamented, ‘Dancing Engineer, it’s tragic that your life was cut short at such a young age.’ Your gift was exceptional and brought delight to many with your work. I am deeply saddened by this loss. My sympathies go out to your loved ones.”
