Glen Powell Transforms Into Chad Powers in First Look at Hulu Miniseries

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for Hollywood blockbusters and a soft spot for sports-themed stories, I must admit that Glen Powell has been a captivating figure gracing the silver screen over the past year or so. From his electrifying performance in “Top Gun: Maverick” to his recent stints in “Anyone But You,” “Hit Man,” and “Twisters,” it’s clear that this man is making waves in Tinseltown.

Over the last year or so, Glen Powell has been a prominent figure in Hollywood. Following his impressive performance in “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022, Powell’s career took off with successive hits such as the romantic comedy “Anyone But You”, the Netflix thriller “Hit Man”, and the summer blockbuster “Twisters”. Now, Powell is making a name for himself on the big screen. However, his upcoming project will find him in an entirely new setting – television – and viewers might not even recognize him in this fresh role.

In the Hulu limited series titled “Chad Powers,” Powell takes center stage as a co-creator, joining forces with Michael Waldron, who also heads the “Loki” show. Similar to the popular sitcom “Ted Lasso,” “Chad Powers” is inspired by a sports sketch from several years back. Here’s the first glimpse of the series below!

I, much like Chad Powers in the ESPN sketch featuring Eli Manning at the NFL combine, found myself inspired. Just as he masqueraded as a fresh-out-of-college quarterback, I step into the shoes of Russ Holliday for the Hulu series. However, when some unsavory actions threaten to end his professional career, Holliday, like me, adopts an alias – Chad Powers – and seeks refuge at a smaller college, clinging to the dream of playing ball under this new identity.

Eli and Peyton Manning, under their Omaha Productions label, take on the roles of executive producers in the series titled Chad Powers. Alongside them are Powell, Jamie Horowitz, and Ben Brown, all serving as executive producers as well. Waldron is producing this project together with Adam Fasullo from Anomaly Pictures.

In collaboration with Waldron, Powell penned the script for the initial episode. The first episode of this half-hour comedy series will be directed by American Vandal’s creator, Tony Yacenda.

It’s no surprise that Chad Powers has a busy schedule ahead, as he is currently working on a project and has recently finished filming for “Huntington,” a new movie directed by John Patton Ford, who is known for “Emily the Criminal.” Although the release date for “Huntington” is yet to be announced, Powell will be in the main role.

The main project on Powell’s horizon is the upcoming revamp of The Running Man, helmed by Edgar Wright, who directed films like Scott Pilgrim and Shaun of the Dead. He’s also negotiating for the lead part in a clandestine J.J. Abrams production, and there have been continuous chats about a potential third Top Gun installment. However, that last title may not progress further until Tom Cruise becomes available on his schedule.
