As a lifelong Star Wars fan who has witnessed the saga unfold from the original trilogy to the latest sequels, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Disney+ series, Skeleton Crew. The prospect of a new adventure set within this iconic universe, with a focus on a group of young protagonists and the timeless charm of Amblin-esque storytelling, is simply irresistible.

As a Disney-loving gamer, I was thrilled to attend D23 earlier this month in sunny Anaheim, California. The event was jam-packed with exhilarating announcements about everything from films and parks to Marvel and Star Wars! One of the most intriguing reveals was the upcoming Star Wars project called “Skeleton Crew.” Set five years after the events of “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,” this story follows a motley crew of youngsters trying to find their way back home. The talented Jude Law is set to star in this exciting adventure, and he even made an appearance at D23 to unveil a tantalizing teaser for the project. This week, the official Star Wars Instagram account shared a video of Law discussing his experiences at D23, which left me eagerly awaiting more news about “Skeleton Crew”!

As a devoted Star Wars fan myself, I share Jude Law’s excitement and eagerly anticipate their response to the upcoming event! In his own words, “There’s nothing that truly prepares you for something like this.” He adds, “The energy and passion of the fans never fails to move me.” You can catch the video where he expresses these sentiments below.

In his previous statement, Law mentioned that they’ve incorporated some technology reminiscent of “Star Wars” from the very first movie. He also pointed out that the creators are exceptional at hiding subtle references, known as Easter eggs, throughout the universe. This, he believes, is one of the delightful aspects of this franchise for those who enjoy discovering these hidden details and connecting them.

What Is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew About?

As a lifelong Star Wars fan who has grown up watching the saga unfold across multiple generations, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and nostalgia when I read about the upcoming release of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.” The idea of four kids stumbling upon a mysterious discovery on their home planet and navigating through a strange and dangerous galaxy resonates with me deeply.

The series is reminiscent of classic Amblin coming-of-age movies such as “The Goonies,” and it follows a group of approximately 10-year-old kids from a minuscule planet who inadvertently get stranded in the Star Wars galaxy. The tale unfolds around their quest to return home.

In a different turn of phrase: Actor Jude Law (known for his roles in Captain Marvel and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) takes on the role of human Jedi Jod Na Nawood, leading an eclectic group of space-traveling children. This group consists of Wim (played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers), KB (portrayed by Kyriana Kratter), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), and Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong). On their adventure, they’ll encounter SM 33, a new droid voiced by Nick Frost, who is described as an old, grumpy droid that initially resists helping the kids but eventually assists them along the way.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew debuts on Disney+ on Tuesday, December 3rd.
