As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement at the announcement of The Thing: Remastered. Back in ’82, when the original movie graced our screens and the game first hit store shelves, I was just a young lad, huddled around an Atari 2600 with my friends, our hearts pounding as we battled the unrelenting horror of The Thing.

Developer Nightdive Studios is celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the North American release of the cult-classic horror game The Thing by releasing a new set of screenshots for The Thing: Remastered.

As a dedicated fan of classic video games and someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the original version of “The Thing,” I am genuinely thrilled by this announcement that “The Thing: Remastered” is aiming to be a faithful restoration rather than a reimagining. Having grown up playing these games on older systems, I appreciate the efforts made to ensure that the remastered version remains true to its roots while still being playable on modern systems at 4K 120 FPS using Nightdive’s KEX Engine. This remastered edition will bring back nostalgic memories and allow me to experience the game in a whole new light without compromising the original essence. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

In the process of enhancement, “The Thing: Remastered” is set to offer upgraded character and enemy models, textures, and animations for a better gaming experience. Additionally, this updated version will incorporate sophisticated 3D rendering techniques, delivering state-of-the-art lighting and atmospheric effects for a more contemporary visual experience.

Originally announced in June, the remastered version of the game titled “The Thing: Remastered” will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch later this year. True to its name, the game is inspired by the iconic 1982 movie “The Thing“.
