In the recent past this month, I found myself celebrating a hard-earned victory that led to a mishap – my precious gold medal snapped during the excitement. I shared a glimpse of the broken piece on my Instagram post dated August 11th.
After finally touching down stateside once more, I just couldn’t contain my excitement any longer and felt compelled to share the details behind the heartbreaking moment at the competition. You see, it wasn’t Lynn who faltered or lost focus; rather, the very bar attached to the ribbon that held her hard-earned medal snapped, causing her to accidentally drop and dent the prize.
As a passionate enthusiast, I can’t help but share an intriguing tale: “How on earth did I end up with the world’s priciest roller coaster?” I playfully hinted in a TikTok video on Aug. 22. “Of course, you might have noticed me spinning it around. Funny enough, that wasn’t what caused it to crack. I’m certain that didn’t assist, but that wasn’t the reason for its damage.”
However, the team’s spokesperson clarified that the celebration following the game was when the break occurred, not immediately after it.
In the midst of the dance floor, with my medal slung casually across my shoulder like a miniature satchel, I leaped about, carefree. A sudden bound sent me tumbling, and in that moment, my prized token slipped from my grasp. As everyone continued to dance, I scrambled around, trying to retrieve the fallen memento. Alas, it sustained a ding during its brief encounter with the floor, making it truly unique – a one-of-a-kind keepsake with an interesting story to tell. The tiny clasp also took a hit, tearing slightly in the process.
As for who’s to blame, Lynn joked that she’s not taking responsibility for the damage.
She expressed her opinion, saying “I believe they could’ve improved the quality, they needed to make them stronger.” Referring to the medals with a fragment of the Eiffel Tower, she added, “To be honest, there’s no blame on me for feeling this way.”
The athlete mentioned that she had contacted the International Olympic Committee regarding the replacement of her medal, yet expressed uncertainty, “I’m unsure if it will be repaired. If not, I believe it makes for an interesting, amusing anecdote.”
