The Acolyte Star Lee Jung-jae Breaks Silence on Star Wars Series' Cancellation

As a die-hard fan of Star Wars and especially The Acolyte, I must say I was as shocked as Master Sol himself upon hearing the news of the show’s cancellation. The High Republic has felt like a second home to me since its inception, and watching Lee Jung-jae breathe life into Sol’s character was an unforgettable experience.

Lee explained that since his character had passed away in the first season, there wouldn’t have been a second season for him to appear in anyways. However, he shared that he admired Leslye’s writing and directing skills greatly. He considered her an exceptional storyteller who was gifted at creating characters and building meaningful narratives within the story. As a result, Lee expressed his personal excitement about the possibility of watching a Season 2 with Leslye leading the way.

Lee expressed, “I’m genuinely wishing for possible modifications in the future,” he said. “After all, you just can’t predict the future. Personally, I truly hope we’ll be privileged to witness more tales from Leslye’s second season.”

A Weird End For Star Wars: The Acolyte

Leading up to the recent announcement, showrunner Leslye Headland mentioned she hadn’t received any news about Star Wars: The Acolyte‘s Season 2. In an interview with EW a few weeks back, the writer explained her current break was intended to keep her ready if updates arrived. Fans of the show eagerly anticipated where the story would progress in Season 2. Now, they’re wishing for a different direction, but it remains uncertain if that might occur.

The showrunner stated, “It’s crucial for you to rest now,” especially given the recent events. For so long, my brain has been preoccupied with ‘Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars, Acolyte, Acolyte, Acolyte.’ It has been a constant process of problem-solving and thinking about these projects. It feels odd to be in a space where I don’t have to engage in that mental work anymore. When I advise aspiring writers, I always tell them, “The key is to do nothing at first. Sit around idly because as soon as you begin creating a story, you’ll start feeling stressed, and a good story can’t be born under stress.”

Is it your belief that the concepts Lee might develop in the future could become a reality? Don’t miss out on our pop culture chats happening now at @ComicBook on social media!
