Pixar Chief Teases New Incredibles 3 Details

As a long-time Pixar enthusiast, I am thrilled to see that the magic continues with “The Incredibles 3“. With Brad Bird back at the helm and Pete Docter as the Chief Creative Officer, it’s like having two of my favorite directors reunite for a blockbuster sequel. The anticipation is palpable, especially since the themes are rumored to delve deeper into societal issues, much like Bird’s previous masterpieces such as “Ratatouille” and “The Iron Giant”.

As a passionate gamer, I can’t contain my excitement as I share that Pete Docter, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, has spilled some beans about The Incredibles 3! Fresh from the success of Inside Out 2, he sat down with Fandango for an exclusive chat. When asked about the revelation of The Incredibles 3 at D23 and Brad Bird returning to direct, Docter admitted that while he’s keeping the major plot points under wraps, he did share some insights into Bird’s vision for the movie’s themes. As one of the creative minds behind many beloved Pixar movies, when Bird has an idea, it’s always worth listening to! So, fellow fans, let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait with bated breath for more updates on The Incredibles 3!

As a devoted admirer, I can attest that Brad Bird is an exceptional collaborator – he’s brimming with energy and enthusiasm. Unlike some creators who work at a steady pace, Brad requires a bit more time to gather momentum before unleashing his creative force. It seems we’ve reached that point now, as the ideas are flowing and taking shape. Unfortunately, we can’t reveal any specifics just yet because the story is still in its formative stages.

In a nutshell, Brad’s movies, like the one titled “Ratatouille,” may initially appear as lighthearted tales about a rodent with culinary ambitions. However, if you delve beneath the surface, they explore more profound themes such as the struggle between passion and opportunity. This is where we begin our exploration of his work, as Brad often incorporates deeper sociological ideas into his stories.

Pixar Still Producing Originals

Given the recent success of Pixar sequels, some fans worried that the studio might solely produce follow-ups linked to their most successful films. However, when speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Doctor assured fans that Pixar remains committed to creating original content. Currently, they are striving to strike a balance between the familiar and the innovative.

In a recent interview with EW, I shared that perhaps the notion of delivering more familiar content and stepping back from the personal may have been slightly misunderstood. While there’s truth in that, our ultimate goal is to identify those universal themes that resonate with everyone – both intellectually and experientially. For instance, as a child, I believed my toys could come to life or that monsters lurked in closets. We’re on the hunt for these grand, shared ideas that evoke reactions like, “This idea is original, but it feels familiar too.” In essence, we’re creating something new yet reminiscent of personal experiences and thoughts – almost like a sequel, if you will. Each of these universal themes is rare, so when they do surface, they must be explored through a distinct perspective to stand out. We aim to preserve that unique angle while ensuring our work resonates with a broad audience.

He made it clear that we will release two original films next, followed by Toy Story and more originals. Although there’s still work to be done to achieve the balance discussed in the Bloomberg article (one original for every live-action remake), it’s an exciting prospect. We can revisit this topic again in a couple of years as we have quite a few projects in the pipeline that I’m really looking forward to.
