As a fan who’s been following The Librarians series since its inception, I must say this latest twist has me more excited than a librarian who just discovered a rare, uncharted book! The fact that TNT is welcoming back this beloved franchise feels like stumbling upon a hidden library room filled with enigmatic artifacts.
The sequel to the popular TV series The Librarians, titled The Librarians: The Next Chapter, will shift its broadcast from its original network, moving to TNT. This change comes as TNT, one of several TV networks owned by Warner Bros., seeks to rejuvenate its programming lineup, with a focus on scripted shows. Given the existing familiarity of this franchise among long-term TNT viewers, it appears to be an ideal choice for their revitalization efforts. The new series was initially scheduled to premiere in October on CW but will now air on TNT instead. As of now, a specific release date has not been announced.
In the sequel titled “The Librarians: A New Beginning“, we follow a time-traveling Librarian from the past who finds himself stranded in the present. Upon his attempt to return to his castle, now transformed into a museum, he unwittingly unleashes magic across the land. To rectify the chaos, a fresh team is assembled for him, thereby creating a brand new group of Librarians, as the series was recently removed from CW’s programming schedule.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped that TNT shares our passion for the series just as much! In a recent announcement, Brad Schwartz from the CW Network expressed their excitement about the series and saw it fitting to share it with their viewers. This is a first for CW Studios, and we can’t wait for fans like us to dive into this amazing new chapter together!
CW Studios helped finance the series, along with creator Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment.

“The following story, titled ‘The Next Chapter’, is a continuation of the TNT series, ‘The Librarians’, which first appeared in 2014. This series featured Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Harlan Kim, and John Larroquette, along with Noah Wyle. Notably, ‘The Librarians’ was a spinoff from three television movies that aired on TNT since 2004: ‘Quest for the Spear’, ‘Return to King Solomon’s Mines’, and ‘Curse of the Judas Chalice’.”
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to be part of the team working alongside Wyle and Kane on “Leverage: Redemption,” the next installment in this exciting series. Interestingly enough, Devlin is not only involved with us but also producing two other projects – “Almost Paradise” on Freevee and “The Ark” on Syfy. It’s an amazing lineup that promises a lot of engaging content ahead!
In the upcoming series titled “The Librarians: The Next Chapter“, we see Callum McGowan, Jessica Green, Olivia Morris, and Bluey Robinson take on leading roles. Dean Devlin takes charge as showrunner and executive producer. Additionally, Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson from Electric Entertainment serve as executive producers, with Wyle also joining the team in this capacity. Mark Franco of Electric Entertainment and Jonathan English from Balkanic Media are responsible for production duties.
