League of Legends Will Finally Let Players Honor Opponents Again

As someone who has played League of Legends for years, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia with the news that we’ll be able to honor our opponents once again. Back in the day, the Honorable Opponent award was like a badge of respect among players – it wasn’t just about skill, but sportsmanship and camaraderie too. I remember the joy I felt when I received one of those honors, knowing that despite the fierce competition, I managed to leave an impression on my opponent that went beyond the game itself.

In the past, before the honor system of League of Legends underwent numerous changes, players had the ability to recognize their opponents with honors. Similar to today’s post-game screen, players could also honor teammates, but there was an additional option to grant one honor to a player on the opposing team if they were particularly impressive or friendly during gameplay. This often resulted from strategic laning phases or friendly conversations in All Chat. However, over time, this option was eliminated.

As a passionate gamer, I was thrilled to hear the news this week! Riot Games announced in their latest Dev Update video that they’re bringing back the ability to honor opponents, which has been a long-requested feature among players. This is something fans have asked about many times before, but it’s great to finally see some action on it. It looks like the team has been working hard on this and other honor system changes, as they’re set to roll out next month.

In simpler terms, Meddler confirmed in the latest update video that starting from September, players will once again have the ability to honor opponents and teammates. Additionally, there will be modifications made to the honor system, details of which will be shared at a later time.

Immediately following the video being posted on the Riot site along with a blog post detailing upcoming changes, “Soon” arrived. To make it easier for players, League enthusiasts will soon have the ability to honor multiple players in a single match instead of having to choose between a worthy opponent and a teammate they enjoyed playing with.

“The update will allow players to recognize and appreciate those who exhibit honesty rather than just skill in the game. We have a vision for this system’s future, but starting this September, you can expect two key features: the ability to honor multiple players within one game, and the ability to acknowledge even your adversaries as worthy of recognition.”

As a fan, I’m excited to share that the picture you see was part of the same post, giving us a sneak peek at the upcoming revamped post-game honor screen! From what I can gather from the image, it appears that players might have the ability to honor up to four fellow players per match. However, keep in mind that this and other aspects of the honor system could be subject to change before its next update.
