As a long-time Star Wars enthusiast who has witnessed the highs and lows of the expansive galaxy far, far away, I find myself intrigued by Lee Jung-jae’s hopeful optimism regarding The Acolyte’s potential resurrection. Having been captivated by the rich tapestry of characters and storylines that Headland crafted, I can’t help but share in his sentiment that “you never know what’s going to happen.”

Despite The Acolyte being cancelled, there’s still a glimmer of hope from one cast member who expresses optimism about potential changes in the future that might breathe new life into the show.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the second season of the Star Wars prequel series, taking place about a century before The Phantom Menace, has been cancelled.
In a chat with EW, Squid Game actor Lee Jung-jae (known for his role as Master Sol in The Acolyte), expressed his surprise upon hearing the news.
Although Lee’s character didn’t make it past the first season, implying he wouldn’t reappear in later ones, he expressed eagerness to watch season 2 under showrunner Leslye Headland’s leadership.
Similarly to some enthusiasts petitioning for a reprieve, Lee also wishes that Disney and Lucasfilm could reconsider their choice and bring back the series.
He expressed his hope, stating, “Perhaps things might change down the line,” implying uncertainty about the future. On a more specific note, he genuinely wishes that there will be additional tales from Leslye’s second season.
In the concluding part of The Acolyte, intriguing links to the broader Star Wars universe were hinted at through cameos by Yoda and Darth Plagueis. This episode revealed that Qimir/The Stranger (played by Manny Jacinto) had a mentor who was also the Master of Darth Sidious – a fact previously unknown.
In simpler terms, if there had been a second season, it would delve deeper into the Republic Senate, as shown by Senator Rayencourt (David Harewood) and Supreme Chancellor Drellik in the finale. Additionally, it would provide more insight into Vern’s (Rebecca Henderson) past with the Stranger and how that connection is influencing her current choices.
