Scrubs star Zach Braff on revival: “I think it’s gonna happen”

As a cinephile who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of medical sitcoms, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of a Scrubs revival. The news that Zach Braff and Bill Lawrence are considering a return to Sacred Heart Hospital is music to my ears, and I have been eagerly awaiting this moment since the final season aired over a decade ago.

It seems that Zach Braff is offering a very convincing hint that there might be a comeback of Scrubs soon, within a relatively short period.

In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, actor Braff (known for his role as JD) hinted that fans can expect their desired outcome after some business-related issues are sorted out.

Regarding the potential resurrection, he clarified: “Since Scrubs is a Disney production and Bill [Lawrence, the creator] has a contract with Warner Bros., I believe they’ll sort out the details between them. I have faith that fans will eventually get what they desire. I think it’s going to materialize.”

Braff stated: “It would be an absolute blast [if we could get together again], especially with everyone I hold dear. We’ve managed to stay connected, which is not always easy for those who’ve worked on long-running shows. But it’s a fact. Recently, I was on holiday with Sarah Chalke… I’m planning a beach trip with Bill next weekend. We’re more like friends than colleagues.”

According to a recent conversation with LADbible, Bill Lawrence firmly expressed his intention of returning to Scrubs, stating it as “absolutely” planned.

“He was very open about it. There’s no doubt that we will proceed with it, simply because everyone has been having a great time socializing together,” he explained.

“I’m not keen on turning it into a film, but I am eager to continue with the series for a couple more years. It would be exciting to catch up with the characters I once adored and see what modern-day medicine looks like through a young doctor’s perspective. After all, it’s intriguing to consider how the newcomers are carrying on the legacy.”

“I think we’ll figure it out in the next six months or so what we want to do.”

Originally starting in 2001 and running until 2009, Scrubs showcased eight seasons filled with the adventures of the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital’s young doctors, led by John “JD” Dorian, portrayed by Zach Braff.

In the revamped ninth season, now known as “Scrubs: Medical School,” we follow a fresh set of medical students, with recurring appearances by familiar faces such as Zach Braff, Donald Faison (Turk), and John C McGinley (Dr. Cox) joining in.

Scrubs is available to stream on Disney Plus. Sign up to Disney Plus from £4.99 a month.
