As a dedicated fan who grew up with the hilarious antics of the Sacred Heart Hospital gang, I can’t help but be thrilled at the prospect of a Scrubs revival! Having watched the show from its debut in 2001 until its final episode in 2010, it holds a special place in my heart. The chemistry between the cast members, the clever writing, and the unique blend of comedy and drama made it a standout sitcom for me.
In our current era, there’s a trend of bringing back classic sitcoms and giving them a fresh start, with shows like Roseanne (now The Conners), Saved by the Bell, Mad About You, Frasier, and many others making a comeback. Most of these TV revivals are for shows that originally aired in the 90s or before, but some more recent sitcoms are also being resurrected. For instance, there have been discussions about reviving Scrubs, the beloved ABC comedy featuring Zach Braff that aired from 2001 to 2010. Bill Lawrence, the show’s creator, hinted at a revival earlier this month, stating, “We’re definitely going to do it, as we’ve all been enjoying spending time together.” Now, Zach Braff himself has shared some positive news on this topic.
Braff shared with Entertainment Tonight something that few others would understand: “Scrubs” is essentially a Disney production, and Bill Lawrence has a contract with Warner Bros. When these two corporations realize this connection, I believe the audience will receive what they desire. I have a feeling it’s going to happen.
“It would be so much fun [with] all my favorite people. We all still hang out. A lot of people who were on long shows say that, but it’s true,” he added. “I was just on vacation with Sarah Chalke… I’m going to the beach with Bill next weekend. We’re all friends.”
Lawrence recently explained that he doesn’t want the potential revival to be a film.
He clarified to LADbible that while he’s not interested in making it into a movie, he’d certainly consider more seasons of the show. It would be intriguing to find out where his beloved characters are now, and also to portray what a contemporary young doctor might look like, reflecting on the new generation coming up, he added.
Besides Braff, the cast of Scrubs also included Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes.
In a particularly notable manner, the actors and scriptwriters of that series are exceptionally talented and consistently dedicated to their roles. The primary motivation behind such collaborations isn’t necessarily the work itself, but rather the enjoyable camaraderie we share. It seems almost unavoidable that this kind of bonding occurs.
Stay tuned for more updates about the possible Scrubs revival in addition to other TV news.
