Laurence Fishburne Reveals Which Film He's Most Proud Of

As a long-time admirer of the multi-talented Laurence Fishburne, I find myself in awe of his illustrious career spanning across various genres and mediums. His latest role in “Slingshot” adds yet another notch to his already impressive belt. However, it’s his lesser-known projects that truly resonate with me as a fan who enjoys diving deep into an actor’s body of work.

Actor Lawrence Fishburne, famously known for his role in the “Slingshot” movie, is reflecting on his illustrious film career and singling out the projects he feels the most satisfied with. From the iconic Matrix trilogy to Man of Steel and the John Wick series, pop culture has no shortage of Fishburne’s films. Yet, his upcoming role as an astronaut in Slingshot, a gripping space thriller, keeps him busy. It can be challenging to select favorites from such a diverse body of work, but Fishburne recently managed to do so, and the movies he cherishes might take you by surprise.

In our chat with Laurence Fishburne before the premiere of “Slingshot”, we inquired about a role he’s particularly proud of, which may have gone unnoticed by some viewers. If they haven’t seen it yet, he hopes they’ll reconsider and take another look at this performance. A snippet from our conversation can be heard in the player above.

As a gamer, I’ve got some cool credits under my belt. One of them is “Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned,” a project I worked on for HBO, inspired by Walter Mosely’s novella of the same name. There’s another underrated film I starred in that didn’t quite get the attention it deserved. Additionally, I played a role in another HBO production called “Miss Evers’ Boys,” which delved into the dark and hidden story of the U.S. government’s secret experiments on African American men during the 1930s, focusing on syphilis and penicillin.

He mentioned, “We were privileged to receive recognition from President Bill Clinton, who held office then. In fact, the U.S. government officially expressed regret towards the victims involved in that particular experiment.”

What is Slingshot about?

A gripping psychological thriller featuring Casey Affleck and Laurence Fishburne, Slingshot chronicles the tense journey of a select group of astronauts embarking on an extended, potentially questionable voyage to Saturn’s moon Titan. With the team preparing for a perilous slingshot maneuver that could either propel them towards Titan or hurtle them into the vast expanse of space, one astronaut finds it progressively challenging to keep a firm hold on his sanity.

Under the guidance of director Mikael Håfström, the cast of Slingshot includes Casey Affleck, Laurence Fishburne, Emily Beecham, Tomer Capon, and David Morrissey. This film is set to debut in cinemas on August 30th.
