High School Football Player Caden Tellier Dead at 16 After Head Injury

As a lifestyle expert who has had the privilege of working with countless individuals and communities over the years, I find it deeply saddening to witness such a tragic event as the loss of Caden Tellier. The impact of his life on those around him, especially at his school, is evident in the outpouring of love and support from his fellow students, teachers, and community members.

A high school is in mourning over the tragic loss of a star athlete and beloved student.

16-year-old Caden Tellier, who served as the quarterback at John T. Morgan Academy in Selma, Alabama, passed away after sustaining a head injury during their football game on August 23rd.

Dr. Bryan Oliver, our school’s headmaster, shared on Facebook that Caden Tellier has passed away. He wrote, “With great sorrow, I announce that Caden is now with his Heavenly Father.” Caden was deeply devoted to God and always brought a radiant spirit wherever he went within Morgan Academy.

Oliver underscored the significant influence that the 16-year-old, who belonged to both Morgan Academy’s football and baseball squads, held over his schoolmates.

As a cherished member of our academic family, I find it challenging to express the depth of our emotions, but let me try: We shall always remember Caden, not just as an individual, but as an integral part of the Morgan family. His spirit and impact will forever live on in our hearts.

The exact reason for Tellier’s demise remains undisclosed by the authorities. He was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital in a critical state, following an incident where he was tackled during his school’s opening game. It was clear that something was gravely amiss, as reported by school officials to TMZ.

Michael McLendon, the Executive Director of Alabama Independent School Association, later clarified in a statement that it’s probable Tellier experienced a rupture in a brain blood vessel due to a seemingly regular play.

He mentioned that it’s probable none of the spectators attending the match saw anything out of the ordinary during the play leading to Tellier’s head injury.

The deceased football player is left behind by his parents, Jamie Tellier and Arsella Tellier, along with his 12-year-old sister Lyla. After the unfortunate event, his mother expressed her personal feelings about it through posts on social media.

“Anyone acquainted with Caden has experienced kindness, generosity, and love – qualities that reflect his very essence, as he once more selflessly gives. The manner in which he lived will leave an impact on many lives, and through his passing, lives will be rescued. For the upcoming days, we’ll walk this journey with him, physically here, but spiritually soaring above, celebrating his heavenly rejoicing.”
