New PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Planned for September

As a long-time PlayStation enthusiast with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation as the rumors of another State of Play event in September swirl around. Having attended countless conventions and witnessed numerous game announcements, I’ve learned to read between the lines and trust the experts like Jeff Grubb.

2024 is expected to see another State of Play event from PlayStation, scheduled for September. So far this year, only two such events have taken place – one in January showcasing trailers for games like Death Stranding 2, Stellar Blade, and Judas, and the other in May featuring announcements for Concord and Astro Bot. While specifics about the upcoming event are yet to be revealed, it appears that we might hear some exciting news soon!

Based on information from Jeff Grubb at Giant Bomb, it appears that a new State of Play event for this year is being generally organized towards September. According to Grubb, he anticipates the presentation will take place near the end of the month. While Grubb didn’t explicitly confirm anything, he hinted that the PS5 Pro, rumored to launch in 2024, might be unveiled during this event.

Based on my latest updates, the PS5 Pro release is still slated for this year. Rumors have been circulating that a State of Play event – not a showcase – might occur by the end of September. If I had to guess, it’d be around late next month. As for where we could potentially see the PS5 Pro unveiled, the State of Play seems like the most likely place.

It’s generally thought that it’s appropriate to have a State of Play in September because Sony has traditionally done so for the past five years. Additionally, PlayStation is participating in the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, which takes place towards the end of this month. Since the convention runs from September 26th to the 29th, it would make sense for PlayStation to host a State of Play around that time to spotlight games they plan to exhibit at the show.

In the coming days, Sony has launched “Concord” for both PS5 and PC, and “Astro Bot” is due out soon, slated for release on PS5 on September 6th.
