Rings of Power star bonded with Matt Smith over “blonde wigs” and “rolling around in armour”

As a devoted fan of fantasy television, I can hardly contain my excitement as two of my favorite stars from House of the Dragon and The Rings of Power join forces in the upcoming film, Starve Acre. Morfydd Clark, who embodies Galadriel in The Rings of Power, and Matt Smith, known for his role as Daemon Targaryen, have formed a bond on set over their shared experiences in the world of fantasy.

As a devoted fantasy enthusiast, it’s clear to me that House of the Dragon and The Rings of Power have undeniably taken the throne in the realm of captivating television series today. And here’s something truly exciting: a new film titled Starve Acre has brought together two prominent stars from these epic sagas!

In the film titled “The Folk Horror,” directed and penned by Daniel Kokotajlo, we see Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark portraying an archaeologist couple. Their tranquil lives are disrupted when their young son insists he’s been hearing strange, enigmatic whistling noises.

As per Clark’s account, they formed a connection on set, bonding through their shared adventures in the fantastical realm – expressing similar criticisms at times.

In this week’s TopMob magazine, she remarked, “Many of us found the armor quite uncomfortable, didn’t it? It was hard to even sit during breaks between filming.”

She mentioned that she considers herself quite fortunate to have collaborated with Matt. It seemed as if fate had brought them together. Quite serendipitously, they’d both been sporting blonde wigs and armor for a while now!

Absolutely, in The Rings of Power, Clark assumes the renowned character of Galadriel, a part that was brilliantly portrayed by two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett in Peter Jackson’s cherished movie trilogy.

It’s worth noting that she found out who her character was just prior to the start of filming in the first season, leaving her without the opportunity to seek some guidance from Blanchett before diving into the part.

“No, I didn’t reach out to her — I still can’t believe that!” she said.

As a fan who found myself on the set of Middle-earth in New Zealand, it wasn’t until two weeks into filming that I discovered I would be embodying Galadriel. At first, the thought of leaving sent shivers down my spine, but then I paused and remembered the countless hours I had spent preparing for this very moment. My infatuation with those films had led me here, and now it was time to bring my passion to life.

In this week’s TopMob publication, available on Tuesday (27th August), you can find a comprehensive interview with Morfydd Clark.
