As a fan who has been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years, I can’t help but be thrilled at the prospect of seeing Michelle Yeoh return in Shang-Chi 2. Her performance as Ying Nan in the first movie was captivating and her martial arts skills were nothing short of mesmerizing.
Actor Simu Liu from “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” expresses his desire for Michelle Yeoh, who appeared in the first movie, to reprise her role in the sequel. At Fan Expo Canada, Collider was present at a discussion with the Marvel star where Liu expressed this hope. It’s uncertain when the MCU will return to Ta-Lo, but Liu has already made his request for Yeoh’s return for “Shang-Chi 2”. Since winning an Oscar after “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, Yeoh might come at a high price. It remains exciting to see what challenges Liu’s character will face in the MCU when he appears again.
In our shared scenes, there was a time when we had to fight each other, but it felt more like a choreographed dance battle instead. First off, I was quite anxious, and secondly, she’s so small, delicate, and graceful that I often felt like an awkward giant, lumbering around. Liu chuckled, “Did it work for the scene? She’s essentially trying to help me find balance within myself, and it has a very Tai Chi feel. It’s all about fluidity, she’s leading you through, and I’m tripping over my own feet. I didn’t need much to get into character; she’s amazing. She’s simply the best person to spend time with.”
What’s Up With Shang-Chi 2?
Discussing “Shang- Chi 2” is a subject Simu Liu will likely field many questions about until an official announcement is made. On his recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the Marvel actor was once again asked about the sequel. Though he can’t reveal specifics, Liu shared that Marvel is actively developing ideas for the kung-fu master. It seems there’s some exciting news brewing, but Marvel Studios isn’t quite ready to disclose it yet. Meanwhile, fans have been speculating that “Shang- Chi 2” might slot into the timeline somewhere between “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
