As a gamer who has been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite some time now, I must say that the ongoing “feud” between Anthony Mackie and Tom Holland is one of my favorite things about these movies. It’s refreshing to see such camaraderie and playful rivalry among actors who share the screen together.
As a die-hard fan, I must confess that Tom Holland hit the nail on the head in his recent statement. Scrolling through Instagram, I found myself reminiscing about the chaotic San Diego Comic-Con where the trailer for my upcoming movie was unveiled to a roaring crowd in Hall H. Seeing my own face up there alongside my fellow cast members made me realize just how surreal this journey has become. It was Tom’s earlier jokes about having your own film being an entirely new experience that sparked this epiphany for me. So, the anticipation for Captain America: Brave New World grows even stronger as this friendly “feud” between us continues to unfold!
Mackie shared, “I needed to pause and fully comprehend the events, as you pointed out, Tom Holland 2013, experiencing my own film is truly unique! #BraveNewWorld @isaia @marvelstudios @comic_con”
This friendly competition between them has been ongoing for quite some time. During a panel discussion in 2018, Holland playfully teased Mackie about not having his own movie yet, and that remark led to even more banter. It’s turned into an enjoyable back-and-forth exchange between the two Avengers. More recently, Mackie boasted about getting a high score on Spider-Man’s ride at Avengers Campus, which he shared with Holland. In response, he couldn’t help but joke about the situation when speaking with ComicBookMovie.
“Hey, you know I’m a big fan of Anthony Mackie, right? If they ever team up Spider-Man and Captain America in the future, it would be fantastic! Now, he might boast about beating me in my own vehicle – one I haven’t even ridden myself yet. But until he has his very own ride, he doesn’t have much to show for it.”
How Does Captain America 4 Move This World Forward?
Marvel and the latest Captain America, Anthony Mackie, haven’t held back on generating excitement for his upcoming MCU role. With the initial glimpses of Captain America: Brave New World circulating, Mackie spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how this film marks a fresh start for the Earth-based storylines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, fans are still hurtling towards Avengers: Secret Wars and the Multiverse chaos. However, there’s a significant development taking place on our own turf too.
Mackie reflected, “This film serves as a fresh start for the storyline, effectively redefining the essence of this universe and where it’s going. In my view, these Marvel movies are introducing a clear, updated vision of what Marvel is aiming to become, much like they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
Mackie added, “It seems like the title suggests a fresh, larger adversary has emerged; there’s a new territory to claim.” Reflecting on Captain America from The First Avenger to Endgame, our enemies were simply good versus evil. Now that we’ve defeated that foe, what lies ahead for us? When these villains return, in what shape will they return? This upcoming storyline introduces fresh characters, new ideologies, and paints a picture of a completely different world we are about to enter.
