Daryl Dixon Season 3 Begins Production With Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride

As a gamer with a deep affection for post-apocalyptic worlds and a soft spot for Daryl and Carol from The Walking Dead, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming season 3 of Daryl Dixon! Having traversed countless virtual wastelands in my gaming life, I can only imagine the rich experiences that await us as they journey through the diverse landscapes of Spain. It’s a dream come true for any fan to see these beloved characters embark on a new adventure, and with the talented cast and crew behind it, I have no doubt it will be an unforgettable ride.

Daryl and Carol are opting for a picturesque journey home. AMC revealed on Tuesday that the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, initially unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con in July, is now underway in Spain. The show’s main actors and executive producers, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, signaled the beginning of filming with a video from the set (above). This season will be filmed primarily in Madrid, with extensive outdoor shooting planned in Galicia, Aragón, Catalonia, and Valencia, each offering a fresh and distinct setting for the post-apocalyptic scenario.

“David Zabel, the showrunner, shared his anticipation as we gear up for season two. He’s thrilled to reunite with Norman, Melissa, and the rest of the outstanding cast on set once more. Alongside a skilled local crew based in Spain, their skills and artistic perspective will breathe life into the series’ landscapes and enrich the show culturally,” he said. “Fans can look forward to seeing these beloved characters together again in season two, as we delve deeper into the ‘Caryl’ storyline here in Spain.”

In the third season of Daryl Dixon, due to air on AMC and AMC+ in 2025, we find Daryl Dixon (Reedus) and Carol Peletier (McBride) still striving to make their way back home to those they care about. Their journey becomes increasingly complex as they venture deeper into uncharted territories, encountering diverse and unusual landscapes that have been drastically altered by the Walker apocalypse.

In the upcoming season, Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, and David McBride take on the role of executive producers alongside others such as Scott M. Gimple (The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live), Angela Kang (The Walking Dead), Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead: Dead City), Jason Richman (Stumptown), Daniel Percival (The Man in the High Castle), and Steven Squillante (Outside the Wire). This season will also see Silvia Ar?ez (The Diplomat) and Jes?s de la Vega (The Innocent) join as executive producers. For Spanish production services during season three, Peregrinos SP24 has been engaged.

In late 2023, the debut of the first season for the spinoff of “The Walking Dead” was viewed more than any other premiere ever on AMC+. This season also broke records as the most-watched in the history of AMC+. Furthermore, it played a significant role in attracting new subscribers, not just in the United States but also in Spain. However, this year’s series premiere of “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” featuring Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira’s Michonne, managed to surpass these impressive numbers.

Title Announcement: The Carol Chronicles of Daryl Dixon – Book One, set to premiere in an extended episode on September 29th in the U.S., and October 4th in Spain on AMC and AMC+. The next season featuring Daryl Dixon is scheduled for airing in 2025.
