Jurassic World 4: Scarlett Johansson Says She's Been "Trying" to Get in the Franchise for 15 Years

As a gamer with a heart full of nostalgia and an unending love for all things Jurassic, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of awe and admiration for Scarlett Johansson. Her lifelong passion for the franchise, as evident from her 15-year pursuit to be a part of it, resonates deeply with me.

The production of Jurassic World 4 is ongoing, and this upcoming installment in the Jurassic series is slated to hit theaters next July, boasting an impressive ensemble cast. While details about the movie are scarce, one thing is clear: Scarlett Johansson, who has landed a role in the film, is thrilled to be part of it. For Johansson, this opportunity has been a long-cherished dream that spans over a decade. During her recent guesting on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon while promoting Fly Me to the Moon, she revealed that she’s been eager to join the Jurassic franchise for 15 years – even if it meant meeting an early demise on screen.

For approximately fifteen years, Johansson has persistently endeavored to become part of the franchise. Truthfully, it doesn’t matter what role or task I’m given; I would be willing to give up my life on the spot.

As a gamer immersed in my latest adventure, I found myself expressing how thrilling it’s been to live out my childhood fantasy – encountering these colossal dinosaurs. It feels surreal, and at times, even the crew has had to remind me that fear should be part of this experience, not awe.

“With each frame of the film, I’m simply awestruck, as if to say, ‘No, there’s no place for fear here; it’s reflected in your gaze.'” (She said)

For Johansson, her affection for the Jurassic franchise stretches beyond just a professional desire to be involved for over a decade. She also expressed that she’s cherished the franchise since childhood, reminiscing about a Jurassic Park tent being the most treasured gift she ever received.

She shared her most cherished gift she’s ever received during her last appearance on the show. Before being cast in “Jurassic Park,” she said that gift was a tent. When she was around 7 years old, she had wished for a “Jurassic Park” tent, and she set it up in her shared bedroom. For an entire year, she slept on the floor inside this tent. She vividly recalled the velociraptors appearing to shine through at night, providing comfort. Now, she’s part of the new Jurassic film – an incredible turn of events! She believes that by wishing for it, they somehow made it happen.

What Is the New Jurassic World Movie About?

The project is being penned by original series screenwriter David Koepp, with Gareth Edwards in charge of directing. The cast includes Scarlett Johansson, alongside Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Ruflo, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda.

In a chat with ComicBook, Johansson had earlier expressed her fervor and affection for the series, describing herself as a “dedicated fanatic” of it.

In a recent chat with ComicBook, Johansson shared that she is deeply fond of Jurassic Park, a movie that left an indelible mark on her. She recalls seeing it in the cinema as one of her earliest memories and describes the experience as life-altering and awe-inspiring. Her enthusiasm for the upcoming release is palpable.

“Johansson expressed her immense enthusiasm for the franchise, stating, ‘I’m absolutely thrilled and a bit star-struck.’ For more than a decade, she has been eager to be part of this universe in any capacity. She exclaimed, ‘I’d give up my first five minutes on set! I’ll serve food if needed! I’ll do whatever it takes!’ It’s hard for her to believe that this opportunity has come at this moment. Truly astonishing!”

The next Jurassic World movie is scheduled to open in theaters on July 2, 2025.
