As an old adventurer who’s seen more than a few trials, I can tell you that these Night’s Trials are a piece of cake compared to some of the challenges I faced back in my day. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves!
Six Totem Poles made of Obsidian can be found in Natlan v5.0, and they’re incorporated into the accomplishments within Dueliest: Series I. A few of these totems are hidden within puzzles, making them tricky to discover, while others are relatively easy to reach.

Location of All Special Obsidian Totem Poles in Natlan
Obsidian Totem Pole #1
1. Travel to the Huitztli Hill landmark (close to the Qucusaur Tyrant’s location) and move towards the river by going northeast. The hidden totem is concealed within a rocky outcrop, similar to the one shown in the image provided. To reveal the true totem, collect 3 glimmering artifacts.
1. To start, find the Grappling Hook hidden within the hollow tree trunk and attach it to the protruding box on the tree. Afterward, summon a Yumkasaurus to tug at this box by inhabiting it.
After moving the box aside, engage with the Crystal Beetle residing within the tree. You’ll notice it burrowing into the ground. Allow it to continue its path, and it will eventually make its way towards the totem pole.
Next up, head to the location where there’s an area with a shining mineral sticking out from the ground. To extract this ore, you’ll need to utilize a Tepetlisaurus, but I can’t seem to spot one around here. Let’s call upon Kachina then!
After initiating the Archon Quest in Natlan, Kachina becomes accessible to all players. Utilize her ability and mount her to execute a powerful slam attack on the ore. Continue pursuing it until it ultimately reaches the totem pole.
In the final instance as before, utilize Kachina’s ability to deliver a powerful strike on the crystals, revealing the excavating creature hidden within. Continue pursuing the glowing, mobile object beneath the ground, and it will eventually lead you to the totem.
When the three radiant objects have arrived at the previously mentioned rock, that rock will shatter to reveal the genuine Obsidian Totem Pole beneath it.
Night’s Trial #1 (Trial of Decisions)
During this encounter, the character will be sent away by Wayob to a realm known as the Land of Choices. Interacting with a Soul of Twilight within this land will allow the character to leave it and resume their battle against Wayob.
Conquering these mobs will bestow upon you a “Curse” debuff. With each level of Curse, your party’s damage output increases but they also start losing health (they only lose health within this Realm of Decisions).
Obsidian Totem Pole #2
Make your way to the designated spot, known as the Sulfurous Veins waypoint. Once there, proceed towards the lower part of the area, where you’ll find a Tepetlisaurus in close proximity to some glowing, orange rocks referred to as resonant stones.
To shatter a rock and reveal similar ones, utilize the Tepetlisaurus’ charge. You should strike six locations (starting with the one you just hit), so explore using your Tepetlisaurus (look for glowing or pulsating areas) to engage them. Once all 6 resonant rocks have been activated, an entryway will emerge.
Inside the new area you just dug out, there is your second obsidian totem pole.
Night’s Trial #2 (Trial of Mobility)
In this trial, evading your enemies’ attacks will grant you a DMG buffer, making it less challenging compared to the initial one. However, keep in mind that if you’re not yet familiar with the skill set of the new Natlan foe, it might still be tricky.
Obsidian Totem Pole #3
Travel to the “Ascension Domain of Weapons” within Natlan, then proceed eastward towards the waterfall. A secluded, deeper area above the waterfall’s cascade is accessible for you to explore.
Venture further into the cavern and upon spotting a magma puddle, you have two options:
At the end of this cave, you will see your totem pole.
Night’s Trial #3 (Trial of Resilience)
In this fight, you’ll find that your Elemental Skills won’t trigger Bursts. Instead, the entire battle is focused on Parrying.
As a devoted user of Parry, I can attest that it empowers me to elevate my weapon into a defensive stance, significantly reducing the damage inflicted upon me. Mastering the rhythm and timing, I find myself effectively Parrying at the precise instant when my adversary launches an attack, thereby nullifying the damage entirely and resetting the Parry.
Obsidian Totem Pole #4
Move to the waypoint situated southeast of the Ancestral Temple, then proceed northwest towards the pool. You’ll spot the Obsidian Totem Pole there. There are no challenges en route, allowing you immediate access to the Night’s Trial.
Night’s Trial #4 (Trial of Might)
A less complicated yet challenging test where the objective is to consistently employ strikes with strong disruptive power. In this test, it’s advisable to use your strikes to disrupt opponents while they are about to launch their attacks. These charged attacks have the impact of a truck, so if you can interrupt them, it will be beneficial.
Obsidian Totem Pole #5
Travel to the Ancestral Temple checkpoint, then make your way northwest until you spot the standing totem pole on the ground. No brain-teasers are involved in this journey.
Night’s Trial #5 (Trial of Sealing)
During this trial, the Cyro Wayob Manifestation will bring forth Hydroflow Constructs, which can be turned into an ice cube through a Cryo attack. Once frozen, aim your Charged Attack towards the Wayob and it will significantly weaken its water shield more quickly compared to regular attacks.
Obsidian Totem Pole #6
Move to the Teticpac Peak northwest landmark, which is near the Scions of the Canopy. Then, travel southwest towards another mountain range. Atop this mountain, you’ll find a totem pole.
Night’s Trial #6 (Trial of Precision)
In this battle scenario, there’s a mini version of Kinich where the adversary can swing from above using a grappling hook. To counter their attack, aim to destroy the floating (Dendro) objects they are attached to, causing them to drop and exposing themselves for your retaliation. A bow character would be ideal for this task, but due to the potential for staggering, consider bringing a shield user along if needed.
