Popular Xbox One Game Can No Longer Be Played on the Console

As a gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that it’s always a bittersweet moment when a beloved game, like the thrilling action-packed Naraka: Bladepoint, is taken off a platform as familiar and comfortable as the Xbox One. Six million copies sold is no small feat, and the fact that it was once a free-to-play game only adds to its impressive legacy.

Initially available only on the Xbox console and later gaining popularity, the specific game released in August 2021 by developers 24 Entertainment and publishers NetEase Games Montreal has now ceased operation on the Xbox One platform as of today. With initial sales of six million units, it’s likely that a significant number of these were played on the Xbox One. However, due to its transition to free-to-play in 2023 and growing user base, many more may have accessed the game since then. Unfortunately, regardless of whether players initially purchased or later downloaded the game for free, it’s no longer possible to play or download the game on Xbox One.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, the game I’m referring to is Naraka: Bladepoint, and it can be played on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, it should be noted that the game has been removed from the Xbox One platform. The reason for this removal, as stated by the developers, is due to the hardware limitations of the Xbox One console.

“The developers behind Naraka have been consistently adding fresh and engaging content to the game. However, due to technical constraints, it’s no longer feasible to run these updates on Xbox One effectively. In consideration of these limitations, we’ve decided that continuing to release such updates on this console might compromise the gaming experience for our valued Naraka community members, something we strive to avoid.”

Players who own the game for Xbox One can carry on enjoying it by signing into their game and Xbox accounts, either through an Xbox Series X|S console or the Xbox App on a Windows PC. The progress made will transfer between these versions seamlessly. However, individuals planning to switch to the PS5 or any other future platform may find themselves unable to continue playing.

We’re grateful for your backing of Naraka: Bladepoint, and we’re committed to working hard to enhance the game and provide you with a fun-filled gaming journey.
