The idea that our beloved heroine is now a herald of Galactus is not only an exciting twist but also a testament to Kamala’s selflessness and commitment to helping others.
Iman Vellani is leveraging her writing abilities to craft an engaging character for Ms. Marvel. The actress gained fame in Hollywood when she was selected to play Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since then, she has portrayed Ms. Marvel in the Disney+ series bearing her name and the upcoming feature film The Marvels, as well as collaborating on writing Ms. Marvel comics following the character’s transformation into a mutant. As Marvel Comics marks its 85th anniversary, Vellani has penned a narrative that teams up Ms. Marvel with one of the publisher’s most fearsome antagonists.

The tale “The Herald of Tomorrow” is concocted by the imaginative trio consisting of Iman Vellani, Sabir Pirzada, and Stephen Byrne. It spins off from the central narrative where Wolverine and Deadpool’s disembodied heads explore a superhero museum in a distant future. In this museum, you can find relics of various superheroes, such as Ms. Marvel’s scarf. This triggers a flashback sequence, showing Ms. Marvel journeying through the cosmos on her powerful scarf. We discover that Ms. Marvel is one of Galactus’ heralds and has been assigned to locate a planet suitable for his consumption to satisfy his appetite.
Instead of being compelled to take on this task like past heralds, Ms. Marvel actively accepts the assignment following Captain America’s recruitment, despite his wheelchair-bound condition. Prior to this, Kamala Khan had chosen a quiet life as a married woman and mother, having put away her superhero attire. However, she explains to Miles Morales that she was brought up to help those in need, “He who saves one life saves all of humanity.” The predicament lies in protecting the lives of the inhabitants of whatever realm she encounters.
Ms. Marvel, new herald of Galactus
Eventually, Ms. Marvel locates a habitable world, yet it’s inhabited by beings in distress. Utilizing her ability to manipulate hard light, she gathers everyone on the planet and swiftly transports them somewhere safe, thus preventing Galactus from consuming it. Readers might remember that these formidable hard light powers debuted on the Ms. Marvel Disney+ series and have since been incorporated into comic books following her transformation into a mutant after death and resurrection.
Ms. Marvel expresses regret to those whose homes are now lost forever, but they do not hold resentment towards her. Instead, they are thankful that Ms. Marvel saved their lives. One of the survivors says to Ms. Marvel, “You’ve given life a chance to grow and thrive beyond the mountains we once called home, which was initially a gift from you.”
After finishing her assignment, Ms. Marvel asks Galactus to return the Power Cosmic. With this exchange, both parties received what they desired. Now that Galactus is no longer famished, fewer planets will live in apprehension of him. And it’s all thanks to Ms. Marvel for making such a selfless sacrifice.
