Transformers One Director Teases Tons of Easter Eggs

As a seasoned Transformers fan who’s been through the Autobot-Megatron wars since I was a kid, the hype for ‘Transformers One‘ is beyond control! Growing up with Optimus Prime and Megatron, I can’t wait to see their origin story unfold. The teaser about Easter eggs scattered throughout the film has me scrambling to rewatch all the previous incarnations, just in case I miss a single nod to our beloved robots in disguise!

The eagerly-awaited debut of “Transformers One” is drawing near, and the director has been hinting at numerous Easter eggs hidden within the movie. Directed by Josh Cooley, this huge animated film, “Transformers One,” delves into the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron. In an interview with ScreenRant, Cooley revealed that the creative team packed as many Easter eggs as possible into different scenes. According to him, there isn’t a single scene in “Transformers One” that doesn’t hint or reference some earlier version of the franchise. Here’s what else the filmmaker shared about connecting the new movie to Transformers’ past.

In every scene, you’ll find something reminiscent of past versions. My team at Island and Paramount are all enthusiastic admirers, as am I. We’ve been fans since childhood, across different generations and adaptations. Therefore, there’s likely an homage to every version hidden somewhere, and it’s scattered throughout. Sometimes, I’d pause and wonder, ‘What on earth is that character doing here?’ To which the animator would reply, ‘I just thought I’d include them.’ My response was always, ‘Fantastic, let’s go ahead with it.’ This film was a labor of love for us all.

Transformers One And Canon

There has been much discussion among fans about where the upcoming Transformers animated feature, titled Transformers One, fits within the established canon. In an exclusive interview with ComicBook prior to the trailer’s release, director Josh Cooley shared some insights on this topic. It appears that while some aspects of the movie will be connected to the broader history of the Transformers franchise, it won’t neatly align with the Michael Bay films or the animated series. Instead, this new installment aims to carve out a unique and innovative direction for the long-standing franchise.

Cooley confirmed that all the previous points were accurate. He received an extensive Transformers history book from Hasbro, which, as you might imagine, is quite substantial. Upon seeing it, he was amazed at the complexity of the lore. It felt like a grand Tolkien-style epic, with many variations. For our film, we’ve created our unique origin story, while still adhering to the Transformers lore. However, this isn’t a direct prequel to any live-action films, but it certainly tells its own tale.

As a die-hard Transformers fan, I’m eagerly waiting for “Transformers One” to deliver an epic experience. I can’t wait to see the unique blend of action, humor, and emotional depth that this movie promises. Let’s hope it stays true to the spirit of the franchise while introducing fresh elements to keep us on the edge of our seats!
